installing speakers on rear parcel shelf (liberty my08 2.5i)

Postby invigrr8 » Sun Nov 02, 2008 7:32 pm

hey guys

i am planning to get an audio upgrade for my 08 2.5i lib as the stock system just doesn't cut it.

just wanted to know if any1 has tried cutting holes in the rear parcel shelf as I see a sheet of metal lining underneath it.

is it going to be a difficult job cutting through it and does the metal sheet or is it there for a particular purpose and is best to leave it as is???

cheers.

thanks :P

I think this guy is talking about metal inserts which go in place of where extra speakers would be if he had the Mcintosh unit? There is definitely some sort of provisioning for extra speakers in the parcel shelf, from what I remember there's even some bolts to secure them to.

It's illegal to cut metal in cars.
As also noted, your insurance will be voided due to damaging the structural integrity of the vehicle.

Unscrew the plate for he 8" sub and mount up to that with something better quality. you can also space out from that to a 10" for more lfe. That's what I'll be doing. ;)
