Preface to postface Macintosh swap Help needed

Hello liberty friends

I want to swap my pre face lift mac and ac to a post face lift all in one unit. I like the look better and i want to use the factory AUX cable.

Problem is when I swapped them the hu was fine it worked no worries BUT the AC control unit powered up but didnt do any controlling.
I have looked for pinout of the i88 plug etc and have found a diagram for preface but not one for postface.
surely the wiring harness isnt different? the plug is the same

Anyway Im looking for any help you guys can offer to solve my problem.
