FAQ GEN 4 AUDIO

Postby crazyricochet » Wed Jun 08, 2016 6:52 pm

After answering some common questions relating to car audio here is information that I have gathered and collated into one big unfinished pile with more to add....

This is by no means a full intensive guide and cannot guarantee everything is interchangeable between pre/postface and will update with more photos and information when I can.

Feel free to correct any mistakes and I will amend the post.

I want an aftermarket double din headunit in my car
See Japan Parts for the Double din fascia kit - Japan parts number 107-209-006
Ensure you read the product description in order to purchase the correct fascia according to whether your car is pre/post face and has single/dual zone AC controls in order for it to work correctly.

What are the wire colours for my stock radio harness?
Radio Constant 12V+ Wire: Blue/Red
Radio Ignition Switched 12V+ Wire: Yellow/Red
Radio Ground Wire: Black
Radio Illumination Dimmer Wire: Purple
Radio Antenna Trigger Wire: Yellow/Black
Left Front Speaker Wire (+): Brown/White
Left Front Speaker Wire (-): Green
Right Front Speaker Wire (+): Red/Yellow
Right Front Speaker Wire (-): White/Black
Left Rear Speaker Wire (+): White/Red
Left Rear Speaker Wire (-): Red/Black
Right Rear Speaker Wire (+): Blue/Yellow
Right Rear Speaker Wire (-): Red/White

Speaker wire colours are only applicable to non McIntosh audio systems, on McIntosh systems the speaker wires are not behind the headunit but underneath the passenger seat where the amp is located.

This is where the Daewoo Aerpro APP030 harness comes in handy.

On other models/years, the amp harness uses an 18-pin connector (same family as the 14-pin). Pin-out (viewing pins on car's harness, wires pointing away from you):

I want my steering wheel controls to work with my aftermarket headunit
Metra Axess ASWC-1 - buy from Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/Axxess-ASWC-1-Un ... entries*=0

How do I wire the ASWC-1 up?
ASWC RED wire to 12v Switched source
ASWC Black wire to Ground
ASWC White/Green to Ground
ASWC Gray/Red to Violet/White wire
Orange/White to Ground

The orange/white and violet/white are the two swc signal wires behind your stereo.

But I don't want to cut my factory radio wiring
Aerpro APP090 Subaru to ISO 14 pin harness
This harness plug and play for models that do not have a McIntosh premium sound system
For McIntosh systems this harness will still work but you still need to sort out the wires for the speakers, see below.

I have a McIntosh system and want to use the stock speaker wiring with an aftermarket ampilifer
Aerpro APP030 Daewoo to ISO 18 pin harness

Many helps thanks to this thread and SVXdc - viewtopic.php?f=22&t=16940

This plug goes straight into the 18 pin connector underneath the passenger seat which plugs into your McIntosh amp which contains the speaker wires for the doors and subwoofer.

You do not have to slice any harness but you do have to change the position of the wire pins in the daewoo plug to match up with the speaker wires from the car. See the Subaru McIntosh Amplifier Unit harness pinout table above!

I have a McIntosh system and want to use my headunit to power the speakers
You can still use the Aerpro APP030 Daewoo to ISO 18 pin harness and repin as above but use an ISO harness extender/long length of wire to route the speaker wires up to the dash and centre console to go back to your aftermarket headunit.

I have a McIntosh system and want to use heavier gauge wire with an aftermarket amp
Forget about the Daewoo harness and have fun running speaker wire everywhere :D

My car (post face only) only has the cruise control switches on the right hand side of my wheel and no audio buttons on the left :(
83154AG001 - SW AY SATELLITE

https://partsouq.com/en/search/search?q=83154AG001

This is the part number you are searching for, it includes both the left audio buttons and right cruise buttons and should plug into your wheel and work correctly with the factory radio.
