Pioneer F700BT/F900BT units in 4th Gen Liberty?

Does anyone have one of these units in their Libertys or know if this will fit in mine? I have an 2003 MY04 Luxury 2.5 and want to turf the useless 6 CD stacker/tape deck for this unit. Can't believe they included a tape deck in 2003!

After the first firmware upgrade, the Pioneer units seem to perform a lot better as they originially had a lot of bugs. Controlling an Ipod by voice sounds like an awesome feature (and its surprisingly accurate from the forums I've read). Bluetooth control of the mobile and the SUNA traffic updates make it a winner for me.

I see some sellers on Ebay selling them for around $700 within the US... So much for under 1k and I'd be happy with it if it fit. They don't seem to be up on the Pioneer Aus site yet, but the portable-only F500BT model is.
Pioneer don't seem to respond to emails either.

If its a double din unit (Which it appears to be) then you should have no problem.

All you'll need is the double din kit which is worth about $320 last time I checked.

Do a little more searching in this forum... A fair few of the guys have installed similar units into their cars.

Thanks for that. I'm aware of the face plates for double DIN units. Someone said on another forum that the Aus edition of these doesn't have the voice control feature. How annoying. Probably required too much work to get it to work in all the different accents around the world.

AVIC F900BT

Just discovered this thread whilst I was searching for information regarding the Pioneer AVIC F900BT.

I just went to 3 separate stores to look at their AVIC F900BT seeing from all the information on the net, this was going to be the headunit for me for the 3.0R I'm picking up this Friday.

WRONG ! One of the features on this unit, namely the Bluetooth doesn't like my Palm Centro ( PDA/Phone ) and will not pair up with my phone and causes my phone to "freeze & lockup" and then the AVIC chucks a hissy fit and reboots itself. The irony is that it's earlier made BiG brother the AVIC HD3 pairs up with my phone in under a minute. Now, this problem has happened to me on 3 separate units and even with the latest version 2.0 firmware update loaded. It would appear to me that Parrot, the company that partnered with Pioneer for the bluetooth module on this AVIC is the cause.

After speaking with a chap at one of the car audio places, it seems this unit's bluetooth has problems pairing with bluetooth that is featured on Smartphones and Blackberrys etc, but no issue with your standard straightout mobiles like Nokia, Motorola, Ericsson that have bluetooth.

So, I guess I either save myself a lot of money or have to consider a more expensive alternative - quite disappointing as I was ready to spend the cash until I discovered this annoying problem.

I hope this provides some insight for anyone else who may be considering this unit and needs the Bluetooth feature to work with their mobile so they can do handsfree operation.

So much for my idea of wanting a ALL in ONE headunit !

Does your Alpine setup have GPS ?

It seems from my investigations, devices using Parrot as the provider of the Bluetooth Module will not work with my phone as I've seen some threads on the net about other manufacturers like Kenwood where their latest HU that have incorporated bluetooth present the same problem for users with my type of phone.

I think I will go down the route of getting a Kenwood DDX5032 headunit and add their external GARMIN based Nav box and plugin their BT200 Bluetooth module. I just hope there's enough room behind that dashboard !

I opted to not get Navigation with my setup as I had already purchased a Tom Tom GPS unit.. my only gripe is not having voice activation technology!
