NoOzL's MY07 2.5i install

Postby NoOzL47 » Thu Sep 11, 2008 10:43 pm

Hey all,

decided i may aswel start up a thread for my install progress. Currently i have installed in the car

Headunit: Eclipse CD4000
Front stage Focal 165V2
Front amp: JBL GTO75.4
Sub: Directed studio 12
Sub amp: Eaudio E1000D
Cabling: 2x4ga runs w/0ga earths

The sub is currently in a prefab box as its only a temporary fix until my babies arrive :). The car will soon have 2xDigital Designs DD2512s in the boot (anyone who remembers the big ugly wooden box in my boot with the black sub will remember what just one of them that was underpowered sounded like)

Well onto the pics, will start building my box on the weekend and hopefully get my car back from subaru soon to start installing my 0ga and test fitting the new box

an outside pic of the car :)

Mmmm, audio goodness. I'm itching to chuck a few audio upgrades in my car now that the exterior is pretty much exhausted.

well first surprise with the new sub :D

At around 12am on sunday morning i installed my brand new sub. SPL Dynamics XTR300-D2.

At 9am i wake up, ready to clean all the dust off my liberty, as i prepare myself to head over to Doran Pro Audio. I arrive at Doran at 10:15am and realise that wow... this is going to be some tough competition seeing some of the cars that i had to go against in the dB Drag.

After some last minute changes to my tuning, it was my turn to go. In street stock A, first ever run with my new sub (sub has had about 30 minutes usage max, coils still stiff as a rock) i manage to pull a 133.9dB on music eliminating my first opponent.

I was shocked.. i bought the sub knowing that SPL Dynamics do make some good gear, but for a sub that wasn't even powered right or setup right pulling those numbers straight out the bat on music... there were alot of stunned faces.

Towards the end ot the day it was finals time. When I move my car into the lane i am warned that this person that i have to go against is a tough competitor, at first i didn't think too much of it, until i saw the car... not only did he have alot better gear than me, his car was also suited to big numbers.

Im sitting inside my car, feeling the same as I would if i was sitting on a bbq in the blistering hot temperatures under direct sunlight, waiting for the signal to go. Watching the timer start and seeing that green GO sign light up, i hit the play button. At first my amp wouldn't switch on.. then out of nowhere it kicks in and gives me a 134.1dB enough to take out 1st place :D

After checking frequency graphs i was slapping myself. I could have gone so much louder if i chose a better song to use, but hey, first comp, first win i'm over the moon

Lets see how we go when the new box is build and the setup is fixed :) pics coming soon

sorry about the story... im drunk and bored :)

cheers boys :)

i got a nice big thophy and a certificate with my score and shit on it, i'll put up pics of hos big the trophy really is.

I was speaking to a mate of mine who is really into dB drag, and apparantly im 6dB off the Street Stock A world record...

Everyone i have spoken to says that im gonna beat that easily, just need time to sit down and build a proper box and fix the rest of the setup
