Installing additional AMPS to your Mcintosh system

Postby gtspec » Tue Sep 09, 2008 1:04 pm

Hey guys i got a solution in case any of you want to add more power to your stock Mcintosh system WITHOUT removing the stock amp.. thats right people step right up hehe

i got a close friend who is good with car audio.. he advised a product called Audio Control LC6 http://www.mobileaudiocontrol.com/produ ... t_Id=31215

i know they show discontinued but thats in the US, you can still get them from JB-HiFi as i did.. but they dont have them on display.. tell them you want to order 1 in, or if your in sydney i can just tell my friend to do it for you

Anyways back to the product, this unique product will accept two, four, or six channels of speaker-level signal from an amplifier or source unit and convert it to a high-quality, low-noise pre-amp signal. Therefore the LC6 will allow you to use your factory installed source unit and give you the ability to add a really good after-market amplifier and processor.

So in other words you can add this unit AFTER your stock amp but BEFORE any additional amps to give the system a good clean sound as you would get with an after market headunit (e.g. pioneer, alpine)

there is also a manual on this website above with full instructions on what it does

Any questions about it i will be happy to answer, just thought others out there who want more BOOF BOOF would find this interesting

Cheers

there is also another way you can do it that's alot cheaper but doesn't give as much control as the LC6,

you can just run LOCs from the amp if you would wish

What's the price run at ? I've got no plans for upgrading audio yet, but if it's cheap enough I might put one aside for "later"

a LOC is a line level converter, pretty much converts speaker line to RCAs, and retail at about 40 bucks each for a really decent one. Its what ive used in my car

oh, i never knew it was called a LOC, thats my learning for today lol

the only prob with that option is you lose alot of quality.. i done this setup in my dads bmw and man the sub sounded so shit compared to when it was setup directly from the headunits RCA`s..

but i suppose its what you want in the end.. im just picky with my audio lol thanks for the input

ok tried to install this today and being the first time i have seen the stock amp.. i had no idea what all the wiring is for..

i understand the general AMP install concept, but i need a wiring diagram for the MY07 Mcintosh amp and what each wire/colour leads to?
