Hi All, Im new to the forum and keen to get feedback on my proposed Satellite navigator transplant.

My Vehicle is a 2007 Legacy/Outback B4 h6 touring Wagon made for the Japanese market Vin No 7AT0GF0BX13028783
Donor Vehicle is 2007 Liberty 4th Gen VIN No JF1BL9KJ38G036724

My vehicle is a used Japanese import and has a Kenwood 6 stacker cd and a Panasonic dvd sat nav under the drivers seat.

The sat nav is all Japanese language and not convertible, I have removed the underseat unit and routed the cables back to the dash.

I have information re most of the wiring but don't have info regarding the hook up of the touch display to the Sat nav unit ( which sockets to use on each?)
The heater controls should be identical?

I have attached some pictures of the existing unit and the proposed replacement.

Any feedback and advice gratefully received.

Cheers Guy

You may simply require the original software disc eg V12C1 and the latest update disc eg V20C1.
Pm me or Tom Kauf iirc for details or search for the relevant Toyota/Subaru torrents...

Yes, happy to help if needed. Is the disc in the underseat Nav drive a Japanese one (or the original disc used after a battery disconnect)? Because after a battery disconnect, it loads the software (menus etc from what I understand) from an Original Subaru Disc. The map update discs people get from eg Whereis do not have that software. So even if you have one of those currently in there, you might find that using an Original English Subaru Disc will make it load the menus in English after a battery disconnect.
The Nav screen is only a display, and displays what the software tells it to (and in what language). So I think your chances are pretty good that this will resolve your Japanese language issue

Not sure that it will be as easy as that.

The screen will be hard coded in Japanese.
I think there was someone else on here looking to convert a Japanese install to English.

Ok, if you're happy to go to all that cost and expense without first trying a 2min, $10 (or even free if know someone local with an Original disc) fix.

A screen is just that, a display. No menus appear on the screen until the original disc, and the software that decides what to display, is loaded.

I had the factory screen without GPS installed.
The screen still has its.own software for the fuel, and service etc.

Agreed worth a try, but I don't think it will be successful

Yeah I see what you mean now. Like you said, the Nav section requires the software disc, but the gauges and calculator etc are still there after a battery disconnect.

Thanks for the info everybody.
I did some research before embarking on the transplant . I was told this model was not convertable from Japanese by software.
I am now commited and really seek the wiring info, but thanks for your interest. Guy
