Good morning everyone,

just wondering if I bought the factory audio controls for the steering wheel how hard would it be to hook up to the factory McIntosh unit and would there already be looms to hook it into or would I need to mod acouple things around

ok so I have a problem I installed the steering wheel controls today and it didn't work after following everyones details and Hyrax walk through

1.Make a record of your favourite radio stations (because you are about to lose them and will need to re-program them later).
2.Disconnect car battery (to prevent accidental firing of the airbag).
3.Undo the two screws on either side of the steering wheel (they will pop out of their screw points, but won't actually come out).
4.Lift the airbag assembly off the wheel and disconnect the cable.
5.Disconnect the steering wheel controls cable from the connector going into the steering column.
6.Make a note of the orientation of the wheel in relation to the hub (use a pen to mark it).
7.Use a socket to remove the centre nut.
8.Pull the steering wheel off.
9.Remove the screws holding the steering wheel controls on.
10.Remove the steering wheel controls.
11.Put the new controls in and screw them on.
12.Put the steering wheel back on, orient it as best you can.
13.Secure the centre nut again.
14.Connect the steering wheel controls cable to the steering column cable.
15.With the airbag still removed, reconnect the car battery. The airbag warning light will go on. Ignore that for now.
16.Go for a quick drive around the block to ensure that the steering wheel is indeed centred when driving straight. Take the socket with you to fine tune the centering (ie: remove nut, remove wheel, rotate slightly and put it back on again, re-test).
17.Test the steering wheel controls to ensure they are working.
18.When happy with everything, park and disconnect the battery again.
19.Reinstall the airbag by connecting the cable and screwing the side screws back in again.
20.Reconnect the car battery.
21.Airbag light should now be off. Test the horn.
22.Go for a quick drive again as a final check of everything.
23.Re-program your radio stations.

both sides light up and the cruse control works but audio side doesn't anyone that can help me id really appreciate it

Are you trying to install satellite audio control switches on the steering wheel where no satellite control switches were there before?
That is what the post appears to mean?

There are two versions of audio systems
An earlier version works through a LAN communication system

The latter appears no to us a LAN controller

A question to which I cannot answer is what type is your Macintosh unit and if it requires the LAN controller, is the LAN controller installed?
