Perhaps we could all pitch in $10 or so and buy a legit copy to share around?

Yeah I'd be keen on that if we got enough people. $10-$20 would be OK for me. But all versions eventually end up available for free, and I don't use my Nav that much. So it's not a high priority for me.

What would be interesting with an original Subaru disc, is the ability to use it after a battery disconnect (without needing to insert the eg v14 Original disc first.
Although that'd have to be a Subaru disc instead of generic Where is one. And I think I read somewhere that Subaru no longer sells Original Dics. They refer people to Where is. But some dealers are just clueless, so it's worth asking again.

OK, cool. So it looks the very latest Gen4s don't use C2 after all. Good to know - must've been a myth.

Hi All,

The V21 (2015) maps are down to $200 now, as the V22 (2016) maps are out.

So, it would be roughly 7 people @ $20 each = $140 for someone that can claim the map as part of their work for their car. Being June, it will be close to tax time.

I think that there are 3 so far, for $20 each. Just need another 3, plus a person willing to spend $200 and claim back on tax.

I'll let someone else do that, as I can't directly claim it as a tax deduction myself....

Anyone up for it?

Oh wow, already a v22!

It's important for me to at least try to get an original Subaru DVD, rather than a Whereis one - because of the continual issue after a battery disconnect. But if Subaru says they don't supply them any more (which I think I read somewhere), then that's ok as well.

I have v14, but it'd be nice to have an original Subaru v22 (with software and maps on it), that can be used after a battery disconnect.

Oh yeah, we should specify what version we want (C1 or C2). I'd be in for C1.

Good idea to specify the version - I am in for C2, v21 or V22.

Hi,

Looks like we do have a bit of interest.

We just need someone to put their hand up in the new few weeks or so.... before June 30 ;-)

We have access to V20, so only looking for V21 or V22 versions. C1 is the disc that I am after.

PS - does anyone know the difference between C1 and C2?

Ok cool. Fingers crossed we find someone before Jun 30.

C1 works on the older head unit and Nav screen that Gen4s have, C2 only works on the Gen5 headunits. I don't the difference in the files etc, but Gen4s have a pretty low resolution screen so the maps are made to correspond to that display. Gen5s have slightly different menus and a higher resolution screen, so C2 is made to take advantage of that.

Hi,

Yes, I contacted Whereis, the call when through to their call center, of which the guy didn't speak english, or understand what I was asking. He just said to go to the Whereis Web page, and I assume being a large corporate organisation, they (call center) wouldn't even know what the latest version was.

Whereis Web Page = V21 latest

3rd Party resellers = V22 latest.
