Steering wheel audio controls not working properly

Postby minidee » Wed Mar 11, 2015 10:36 am

Hi everyone,

On my 2005 3.0RB the steering wheel audio controls have stopped working properly. Specifically the buttons on the RHS of the steering wheel that are volume up and down and mute have stopped working but also sometimes the mute button increases volume instead. Most of the time it doesn't work. Has anyone else had this problem and if so were you able to fix it or did you replace the controls with new ones.

Thanks in advance.

Try both approaches.
Eg look up a steering wheel removal diy, remove buttons, remove covers, clean pads, buttons, check wiring.
If it doesn't work hit up wreckers, online or genuine for spares.

Steering wheel removal or swap.
Iirc you can just remove the airbag, then use a short screwdriver or Phillips tip in a mini ratchet to remove the swc's from behind the wheel.
