Long time viewer, first time posting here. I hope you can help.
I am installing an amp in my MY06 Liberty Spec B. It has the 11 speaker Mcintosh stereo with the factory sub on the rear shelf. Its time to disconnect the factory sub and put a proper amp and sub in.

I have a mono clarion amp with high to low level inputs. Can I just wire directly from the existing sub line to the high to low level inputs instead of having to wire from the rear left and right speakers?

Yes. Just take the signal from the existing sub wires and pass into the high level inputs of the amp.

Id leave the LPF set to off (or as high as possible) as the McIntosh will already be applying a LPF to the sub channel.

Without specific information about what it is you're installing, generally you'd be connecting both channels to the high level inputs. So a R + and -; and a L + and -. This means that the amp receives the full range from the HU, and it will output the appropriate frequency to your sub. But, if you're taking the factory speaker lines for the sub, and connecting them to the HL inputs of the amp, then you only have one channel anyway........and this is where my headache began.....>>>>

I bought my mates 3.0R a few weeks ago, and this is my story:

Sub was shaking the crap out of the parcel shelf, so I decided to go for a 10" Polk in a box running off the factory amp. ......Wrong. Way too underpowered. Bought a 4 channel amp to run the sub off for now, then maybe upgrade the door speakers later. Integrating that with the factory HU= more trouble than it's worth, so I bought a new HU. (Clarion VX404AU- my first Clarion)......... Well, what do you know- it doesn't fit in the factory fascia! *buys new fascia.

Long story short- next weekend, the whole Mac system is coming out

I ended up running the sub wires into the high to low input on the new amp. It sounds great

So it was really just as easy as that Azrr? I've got an 06 3.0RB, is it really just a case of putting the existing wires into the new amp?

You still have too run power from the battery, ground and the remote wire from a switched 12v source(i used the cigarette lighter) but the sub wires went straight into the high to low input on the amp. I tried to make it look as factory as possible.

Also, I cant highlight how important a multimeter is. It made testing for ground, finding 12v switched and testing so much easier.

How is your sub attached in the boot?

Velcro worked great for me. It sounds like a dodgy solution but because its not physically fixed to anything it doesn't rattle the car to bits.

It is a wagon so it is bolted in the side. All the boot trims are shaking about.
