Postby VanillaIce220 » Sat Nov 01, 2014 7:52 pm

Okay, let me begin, I have a 04GT with the Mikintosh (dont know how to spell it) head unit and i want to upgrade the head unit then the all the speakers so i can use an AUX or.... yeah mainly an AUX. I am hoping there is a facia kit that will work and I want to get a big ol fancy 8inch monitor because im fancy ;). Are there and facia kits that is cheap and will fit in mine, I heard that i only need the top part but i dont know what im looking for and also a straight fit in monitor with AUX. Also what speakers should i get and sub and all that stuff. Thankss :D
Meme god.

If you really do want an 8" screen you'd have to look into getting a custom made fascia. The normal kits you buy have a double dinn sized hole which as far as I'm aware limits you to a 7" screen. This is the same whether you want to put it in the standard stereo spot or up where the Nav screen goes (for cars that have it).
So basically not all that easy really. If you stick with a 7" then it's all rather easy.

First thing would be to pull your one out and see if the stereo and climate controls actually are two separate pieces.
Someone else with a mcintosh setup of that age will probably know.
The facelift ones aren't so it's bloody expensive to replace as new climate controls come as part of it. If it is separate then eBay has quite a few, couldn't vouch for quality though.
I've just got a full one with the climate controls from japanparts.com and its a perfect fit.

There's too many options for speakers to list. Giving a rough $$ value you're willing to spend will narrow it down.

Just got some Polk MM components and coaxials for mine and absolutely love them. Probably not as civilised as focal and the likes but sound a lot better than the infinity setup I had in the old legacy.

Wanted focals but the sizes were going to be pretty iffy on whether they would fit or not.
