Don't have the exact answer to your question, but from all my research thus far i concluded that the Axxess AIP-CL-ID, seemed to be the best choice.

I searched for freakin ages trying to get one and tracked one down here:

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio ... CL-ID.aspx

I think it ended up costing me $95
Hasn't arrived yet, so fingers crossed it does and it all works smoothly

They seem to be rare as hens teeth these days

Alrighty,

so the miracle that i thought has occurred in finding an AXXESS AIP-CL-ID cable has bitten me on the arse, and suprise suprise there is no stock of the part at the website onlinecarstereo.com.

So i apologise if my post led anyone to order from that particular website, but i only got the email on friday night

So back to the drawing board.

Has anyone used the FSL-21 shown here:
http://motors.edsvr.com/products/detail ... oduct_id=3

or am i better off trying to track down an AXXESS AIP-CL-ID cable? which is proving mighty difficult...........

This aux in business is getting pretty bloody stressful

The AXXESS AIP-CL-ID cable does work really well. I've got an MY04 GT and the AXXESS AIP-CL-ID cable connects to my iPod using the proper iPod connector and it even charges my iPod. Unlike the Clarion EA thing, you can still use the iPod directly. You don't need to create playlists.

But can you control it through the Mcintosh headunit?

Nope.

But when you have an iPod full of 1000's of songs, I don't think it realistic to expect to control that iPod through a head unit whose interface simply wasn't designed for the task.

I collapsed in laughter when I once read about the HU control offered by the Clarion unit. Surely a practical joke. Using a 'structure' of 6 playlists, there is simply no feasible way to arrange an iPod with a lot of music on it. And then you have to keep those playlists updated as you load new music onto your iPod.

I think the two approaches and their usefullness to you depends on a few factors. If you have an static iPod with a small amount of music on it then yeah sure 6 playlists might work.

Otherwise you'll want to use the iPod directly.

Wow, where did this come from? In all the threads here and on the C&I forum this unit has never come up before. Must be a new product.

It says it is compatible with McIntosh equipped Subaru's. Very interesting.

Nice find, although I can't really justify spending $300 just to get Aux in.

How much music do you have? How much did you spend on it? If your collection is huge, you can justify it along those lines.

I had a look at the manual for this, http://www.mcarcdc.com/down.asp. Seems they don't specifically mention Subaru or McIntosh, however in the manual the Suzuki connector they mention looks the same as the Clarion one for the AIP-CL-ID.

It also mentions in the manual you can only have six folders, e.g. it behaves like a CD changer...

I did find a site that said that it was compatible with the mac stereo.. to me this one is the best coz it has all 3 (USB/cf and ipod)
I have also found this one as well.
http://www.anycarlink.com/Product.asp
They do a pretty neat unit as well...
To find other interfaces best to have a google at suzuki as well. Their factory HU's are similar to the mac as to they have a ce-net interface. The mcarcdc is compatible with Suzuki, but unless someone tries it they cant guarantee it to work on a mac. I would but i havent bought mine just yet!

Just spoke to a guy from advanced ICE about the MCARCDC. He says he has installed in MY04-06 HU's and had no issues. He also said it has USB/IPOD etc AND apparently also charges 5V apple (i.e Iphone 3GS).

There is also xcarlink as well.. Sydney Installers are Selling a bluetooth kit with ipod interface for $240 plus install. The xcarlink has ipod/BT and aux in..

What about this one? Is this the cable that isn't working or has blown up head units in the past?

and would this set up work on its own?

I posted this in the other appropriate thread, excuse the double up but I think it's relevant here as well
------------------
Hey guys - my first (2nd :) post here, but I've been doing a fair bit of reading here in regards to Aux In for Libertys etc - I've just got mine sorted out so I thought it only fair to give back & let people know how I went

6 weeks ago I became the proud owner of my first Liberty (been wanting one for years) we scored a 2006 Liberty 3.0R-B (wagon, first kid on the way), after reading all the related threads on this forum (and a couple of others) it looked like the AXXESS IPOD AND 3.5MM AUX - FOR CLARION AIP-CL-ID was the best/safest option on getting my iPod/iPhone hooked into the stereo.

I eventually found one here http://www.aussiedeals.com.au/products/AXXESS_IPOD_AND_3_5MM_AUX_FOR_CLARION_AIP_CL_ID-460594-0.html the price seemed a bit rich & they absolutely reamed me on shipping ($28 or so) but they were the only place I could find with stock. Hold breath, & enter credit card details.

A week or so later, the cable showed up (that in itself was a relief) & due to stereo being back at Subaru getting repaired when the wife went down to get it put back in, I made sure she took the cable down & see if they'd whack it in when they put the repaired (was getting focus errors) McIntosh HU back in - surprisingly enough, they agreed & the wife came home with a couple of cables protruding out from nder the centre console trim.

After reading about BBQ'd head units I was nervous plugging the iphone in for the first time but IT WORKED, as mentioned before you access the iPod by pressing disc twice & also mentioned the level is a fair bit lower than the FM or CD channels. The supplied iPod cable even charges my iPhone - but annoyingly the iPod input is lower line level than the 3.5 mini jack input (where you can still turn up the volume on the iPhone to drive it a bit harder)

So I can say for an 06 Liberty 3.0R-B McIntosh system, the cable from Aussiedeals works
