Hey all,

Just wondering if any of you know where I can purchase a hideaway subwoofer box for my wagon :)

Some example:
http://www.wickedcas.com/product.php?pr ... t=5&page=1
http://www.wickedcas.com/gallery/v/magi ... GIC+BOXES/

These boxes are nice, I've emailed asking if they ship to aus and if there is an opposite version for both the passenger and drivers side.

Thanks

WOW!! Nice find :D

Did they say if they ship to Australia? I'd join in on a group buy, even though my Polk 8" is pretty good. You can never have enough bass.

I only knew of the JL Audio ones (but they're discontinued)

I emailed the wickedcas people, and asked for a price as well (with and without Sub). In theory, getting just the enclosure could save a LOT on postage. Then we can get the Sub locally.

Although, the only JL distributor in Aus lists the 10" JL sub that is included with both enclosures at over $800 :? We'll see what they say..

EDIT: And tbh, the JL Audio Stealth Boxea are a bit ugly. The flat top looks a bit odd, although I'm sure it has its purpose (more volume than the wickedcas one).

Looks pretty good but damn it's expensive!

How much would a custom box cost?

That looks real clean.
I was planning on building a box but if you get a reply on the price of the box without the sub I might be keen.

Maybe we can try to get a group buy with them and get it cheaper.

Just got a reply:
Shipping to Australia would be $150 with out sub and $195 with sub.

IMO it looks less boxy than the JL Audio one, but you can still get it with one of 3 excellent JL Subs. I prefer these over the JL box in terms of looks. And those sites that list the 'JL Stealthbox' (incl sub), are all $800+ (a few sites still have them, but maybe they haven't updated the status to say 'Discontinued').

So who wants to start a group-buy thread? :D
Incl shipping, it's still gonna be US$499.95 without the sub, and either US$644.95, US$694.95 or US$794.95 depending on which Sub you get. That's before we get any group-buy discount (haven't asked yet - we should try to get numbers first).

I had a quick search for the general quality of their products, and stuff like this on a 350Z Forum is common (pretty positive):
The quality was very good and it felt more solid than what I was expecting. I have seen fiberglass fabrication in the past and it was rather flimsy. This was very solid and rigid....It Produces excellent bass response...

Why not just make your own? I'm making one and it's actually fun, I just followed this.

Yeah, ideally I'd love to make one. And that guide does look good. But working 7 days a week (my workmate retired recently and hasn't been replaced) means I really should do other things 1st, in the little spare time I have.

It is a lot of money to buy one, compared to just the materials. But it's a numbers game unfortunately (DIY vs paying someone and earning money at work). Even at my fairly average pay of $25/h (increases to a x1.5 loading for Sat monring, x2.0 loading for Sat afternoon and all of Sun), the sub and enclosure has more than paid for itself by just working this weekend.

I like it a lot, this is something I want to do but I would have to have one for either side of the boot, not just the drivers side.

The Wicked C.A.S. ones in the original post? They say 0.65 Cubic feet (18.4L) on their website - link in the original post for Liberty Wagons. If you're going with eg one of the JL Audio subs, they have a recommended enclosure size of 0.625 cu ft (17.7L) in their tech specs. So even though the enclosures are not massive, they're basically the perfect size :).
