Hi guys,

Since i bought my car (month ago), the front left speaker (6") crackles especially with the bass and kick. I took it out and checked if the wiring was loose or if screws were loose but they weren't any of those. So i'm planning to replace the front speakers with the alpine spr60. Will they match fine and won't need an extra amp etc?

Thanks

McIntosh run different ohms (8ohm like your home theatre system) as far as I'm aware, so you would need to have dual coil speakers you can wire to reduce the ohm load, otherwise speakers will basically run at half volume.

I can check on the unit I pulled out of my car when I get home if you like, but I'm 99% certain.

Simple answer is Yes you'll need a different amp if you change to the Alpine's or any other 4ohm speaker.

You maybe able to find another 8ohm replacement using google or a specialist car audio store.

Hope this helps

I don't mind replacing it with stock speakers. Do you know anyone that's selling them?
