Factory installed aux input not working

Postby Tanetoa » Thu Feb 20, 2014 7:47 am

Hi,

Unless im missing something plainly obvious, I cannot seem to get the aux to work.

I've checked my aux cord and this works as expected. However when I connect my iphone5s and click the aux button nothing happens. Even using the mode button on the steering wheel doesnt allow me to select aux. It literally shuffles through all of the options except aux.

Does my iphone also need to be powered via the 12v input for mackintosh unit to 'discover' that the aux is connected?

Its a 2007 Liberty GT. I only brought her last week so im unsure of the exact stereo model.

Any help appreciated guys, i'll probably end up going with the anycarlink eventually, but, for now it would be nice to have the aux input functioning as it should.

Cheers

I bet it's the wrong type of cable. Two cables exist for the facelift Libs, I believe.

Do you have the product number for the AUX cable?

Seeing as it was installed by a sooby dealership, I'd assume the correct cable is being used.

or are you saying you cant use a generic type of 3.5mm aux cable?

wow - thats crazy if so.

can you please point towards one that is configured for this set up, if this is the case.

Just re-read your post, are you talking about the actual cable that connects the head unit to the aux input?

Or the 3.5mm cable that connects the phone to the female input in the centre armrest?

If its the 1st one, where can I find the part number?

Thanks again.

update:

I've tried hooking it up to the power source - no luck

Tried an iphone 4 - no luck.

looks like i'll be pulling the centre console out this weekend to check for any dodgy connections ....

You would think being installed at the dealership when it was purchased brand new would mean it would stand the test of time.

Well, Subaru have two (or three?) types of AUX plugs / cables for different models of Libertys.

When I had a 2.5i Kenwood, they supplied me with the wrong type of cable and therefore, didn't work. The GT / McIntosh should be fairly standard for them to supply you with and not as uncommon as the Limited Edition (which I had).

I'd say the receipt might have the part number on it or the box that it comes in will have it on it.

If you let us know what that is, we'll be able to tell you if it's the correct part number or not.

So....

After searching and reading how to remove the HU and centre console it was a bit of surprise to find it wasn't connected to the HU /face palm.

Have no idea if it was purposefully disconnected. Seems strange to have the function there and then disable it.

Anyway, long story short. It's now working.

Cheers

:D
