Okay so today I was having a talk to another chap that I know, and he said that some head units ...
MUST BE REMOVED AND INSTALLED FROM THE REAR?

When I heard this my heart sank because I don't like that at all.

if anyone has a GEN3 liberty with an aftermarket head unit, please tell me how you changed it and what brand it was

cheers :))

I'm sorry but that makes no sense whatsoever.. Clarify 'from the rear'

huh? :? i am also confused. i put a Kenwood double din in my old gen 3 and i just pulled it out from the front after taking the dash surround off. are you just doing a headunit swap?

Lol what, I put a single din aftermarket unit into my GEN3 with no issues, so easy and didn't involve anything from "the rear". I don't even know how someone comes up with that terminology with head units?

Let me guess

This chap has installed a head unit in a VL Commo once?

They had a security bolt through the back of the radio into the dash support which required removing half the dash and heater ducting to get to.

Robbks, yes he did have a VL

I asked this question because I was told that the head units in some makes had to be installed from behind the centre console fitting.
so basically he had to strip it out to get to the bolts to remove it

sorry for confusion
