Put an 08 Head-unit in an 04 Liberty

Hey All,

I have a 2004 2.5i Sports Liberty with the basic Kenwood Stereo. As it says in other threads, the stereo cant be changed unless you find a facia plate or some-sort of thing, or you cant put an AUX port in unless you spend $200+ US Dollars on a little CHR-to-AUX Converter. I like the sound system that is in my car but i really want an AUX port. My question is, if i can buy the whole head unit - Air con controls and Newer(Possibly McIntosh) stereo out of say, a 2008 Liberty, will it work? Will i still have full functions of my air-con? will it look good? - also, the one im looking at comes with the satnav unit as well, can i put it in where my current storage compartment is?
I know its a lot of questions, but ive been holding off buying an FSL-21 to see if i can do this first.
Has anyone put in the stereo from another year model? have you replaced the air con vents and storage box with satnav?

Really Appreciate it guys!!

The McIntosh head unit isn't amplified so not as easy as just swapping it over.. Dual zone HVAC will work in single zone (if that's what your car is) but the left knob will do nothing..

Sat nav option - viewtopic.php?f=22&t=21888

Awesome, thanks for the reply.
Attached is an image of what I'm looking to get, let me know if you think it is worth it...

As Sean said, the Mcintosh doesn't have an amplifier in it. You'll need to purchase a DIN cable to go to the passenger seat and a Mcintosh amp. Then you'll have to rewire all your speakers. And that's only to make the HU work. Not sure about the sat nav.

In all honesty, the McIntosh route is not worth it. I don't think the sat nav is either.

My friend has a Foz with factory nav; it's pixelated and looks shithouse, costs you your left nut to upgrade every time a new maps is released.

My advice, buy little bits at a time..... Get the fascia first then save for a double din head unit (if you have an iPhone buy a Pioneer head unit for Advanced App Mode - http://www.pioneer.com.au/au/page/produ ... -mode.html). Would be a much simpler install. Or install a Nexus using AUX in for audio.

Thanks!!
You don't happen to have a link to buy a proper Facia plate do you? I'm
Just a bit curious to how it will work with the integrated air-con unit.

Thanks
Nick

Unsure if this is the correct one but gives you an idea.. http://www.japanparts.com/db/parts_deta ... RCH_page=3

You can buy from Japanparts for about $400ish or contact Garage 88 and tell them what you need and they'll sort it.

EDIT - yes it's correct, pre face is A/C and pick either black or silver.
