Hi everyone,

Just got a new JL Sub and AMP , and wanted to know if I needed anything else for the setup with the stock Mcintosh Headunit.
Does the mcintosh have a remote wire, and subwoofer output?

Also is there a way I can run my new sub with the factory sub as well? Advantage/disadvantages?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the help :)

There's no point in running 2 subs.. You'll have issues with frequencies and it'll sound shit. I don't have a lot of experience with the McIntosh but it is more difficult than a straight swap - there is no sub pre out and no remote wire.. Everything is done via one loom from the head unit to standard amp.

Easiest way is to use the existing sub output, run a hi level to line level converter (jaycar or eBay) and use that as your amp input.

We plugged the line converter into the 8" sub signal.

I'm pretty new at this whole stereo thing and my mate taught me whilst we went along. But it's working fine so far.
We ended up grounding it inside the boot to a pre-existing bolt also, but had to grind off some of the paint to get the full 12v flowing.

No real use using both subs, the 8" is going to cone when you try and turn it all up.

Remote wire can come from any power source that turns on with ACC... Cigarette lighter for example. You could even try a fuse tap into the turn signal fuse as that too is only ACC.
