2005 Liberty GPS.....

So, i am going to be getting a MY04 or MY05 liberty GT in the next few weeks.

My question is... can you stick a GPS unit in.

I have got the answer for part of it... but its messy
I dont really want to change the factory stereo, as it seems alot of hassle.


Can you stick a GPS unit into the cubby between the AC vents.... and get it to run via the McIntosh stereo?

After doing MORE research.... (this forum is tricky as you have to navigate heaps of generations and differences)

Its probably easier to do this.

1. buy aftermarket double din facia
2. buy double din GPS/stereo
3. make sure it has RCA preouts (for McIntosh Amp)
4. buy wiring adapter harness
5. done

Can anyone confirm that the RCA type pre-outs will plug into the McIntosh amp (as i don't want to replace that as well)

It looks fairly awesome.... however, would prefer something more "designed for the job"

i put one of these in my mates corolla, and think this might be the easiest way to go.

can anyone then tell me, if these "AV Output cables" can be used to go into the stock amp? or is it just easier to replace that too?

You have to be careful when selecting a double din unit for the cubby, there isn't a lot of depth there. The easiest thing to do would be to go for an aftermarket amplifier but I have read somewhere on here about someone successfully connecting the 2 together.

I guess ill have to wait and see when i pick the car up....

However that GPS unit i suggested, was a replacement for the standard Mcintosh unit.... i would think that there would be enough space there?

Oh so you want to replace the standard HU? I read above as if you wanted to keep the standard McIntosh and have the GPS unit above in the cubby.
