Someone help!

If i can't find a stock Mcintosh 6" 8ohm speaker (the big one at the bottom of the door) to replace my one, what do i replace it with that will be a simple straight swap (minus connectors)???

I've been to autobarn, JB, dick smith and jaycar and NO ONE has anything of the kind.

I just searched ebay au and even those results were pathetic.

So does anyone want to give me their Mcintosh speaker(s) or can someone recommend a shop to go to that will have something thats in australia.

Cheers

I may be able to help mate. I am wrecking a premium gen 4 at the moment with the 13 speaker system. Will check door speakers on Monday for you.

Bumping up this thread - I've a busted 6inch speaker that I need to replace too. Anyone found a suitable replacement without having to remove the entire McIntosh system???

This is the set up I used with factory amp n headunit and sounds amazing

Dash Speaker

Kicker CS35 3.5"

Front doors

Polk DB1001 Silk Dome Tweeter
SOUNDSTREAM TWS.4 1"
Kicker CS35 3.5"
Pioneer TS-D1602R 6"

Rear Doors

Pioneer TS-A1685S 6.5"

Sub

Kenwood KFC-XW800F 600W 8"

If you don't want to cut anything and just re-solder parts it can be done but one very important one that must have the capacitor soldered on is the 3.5" speaker.... Solder + side of cap to speaker + then to + wire if you need a pic I can take one on the weekend for you

dropping from 8ohm to 4 ohm is fine but going from 8ohm to 2 ohm will cause you a lot of issues and could blow the amp because of big drop

Rather than start a new thread, thought I would ask here...

I have a MY05 3.0RB with the 13 speaker Macintosh system.

My passenger side front door speaker (the big one at the bottom) is playing up. Took it to a guy in Thornbury (total recoil) who said it needs a new cone and the driver side most likely will need it done soon too.

Said it would cost $60 for not great quality and $160 for very good quality - better than it was.

Now, to be honest, I don't have high needs. The stock Macintosh system meets my needs. It's the best system I've ever had and I am generally in the car with my wife and/or kids so do often get a chance to crank it right up.

Can anyone give me some advise on whether I should replace the cone or get a good quality alternative speaker? Like I said, it doesn't need to be the best in the world - just similar level to stock and I'll be happy.

I understand the requirements are somewhat unusual and rule out a simple replacement. Is that right?

I'm a bit lost and any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Yuley

Polk DB840 8" sub and DB6501 door components will be great options!
Have the MM840 myself and installing MM6501 for doors next week :)
Dynamat for doors and parcel shelf will help A LOT.
