Hey guys this is my first post here so if i'm in the wrong section let me know
Basically my plan is to install a nexus 7 into the Navigation cubby in my 2006 MY07 3.0r spec b.

So far I've got these parts ready to order:

I am planning on using the Joycon EXR to control the Nexus 7 using my steering wheel controls but the issue ive come across is that i have NO idea which wires are which for the steering wheel controls.
Ive searched for hours for a steering wheel control wiring diagram with no luck. I ended up taking my dash apart this morning and found the only connectors that aren't currently being used by the aftermarket headunit that was installed in my car.
Here are the pictures i took and hopefully someone can give me some guidance as to which wire is which.

I think (and I stand to be corrected), you'll want the "Centre panel and bracket set" from JapanParts (Japanparts Number: 107-203-002)

It may be the same, but one is listed as being 180mm wide and the other 200mm. Possibly opening and overall size respectively, but may be safer to go with the proven version.

re: other questions I have no idea but would be interested in the answer as I plan on doing a Nexus install too. Although I'm not as technically-minded as others, so I was thinking of getting a Bluetooth GROM unit (eg. http://www.cushieaudio.com.au/subaru-usb2p.html) and linking the Nexus through that as I don't plan on rooting it (again, not as tech-minded) and I want to maintain reliable hands-free calls and, more importantly, steering controls.
But the GROM may not be required...still researching this.

The unused plugs might be for the optional nav system?

So is the one from Japan parts proven to fit is it ? I was also unsure as there is 2 listed on AvoJDM which appeared to be the same thing.

And yeah setting up the controls wouldnt be that complicated as long as i can figure out if those wires are even the correct ones ?
Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction because so far i cant find ANYTHING

I believe ive seen at least 1 of those plugs connected to the stock head unit in someone else's post before so im unsure about the nav system but they very well could be.

Your head unit looks different to mine. I have a MY08 with a McIntosh stereo. Mine uses orange/white and purple/white wires for the steering wheel controls.

Not sure if it applies to you, but it does say that the steering wheel control wires and brown and yellow, which you seem to have. Maybe test them with a multimeter?

Thanks alot ^. Thats awesome I'll check it with a multimeter asap. So do you think it will just be 2 wires for all controls ? It probably just gives the headunit a different resistance value or something.

Basically each button has a different resistance.

Yeah apparently in the Australian liberty the steering controls go through a "LAN Module" and get converted into a different signal for the OEM Headunit to read.
Therefore to get the original resistance signals i'd have to tap directly into the SWC's under the Steering column i.e before it connects to this "lan module"
Hopefully i can get it all figured out so i can post my results here and help someone else out !
