AUX in for MY03 B4 (McIntosh) stereo?

Hey there, I've been cruising these forums for a similar post but couldn't find any relating to the B4 head unit.

I was wondering what my options are for connecting an MP3 player to my MY03 B4's standard McIntosh Head unit? It only comes with the single CD/tape/Radio. I've asked at a few car stereo places but they reckon the only thing I can do is completely replace the head unit which includes adding a fascia kit.

Are there any other options without having to replace the original head unti?

Cheers

there is not really any other option. your best to just get a new head unit either double din or single and add a shelf. i replaced mine in my gen3 with a double din and didnt need a facia kit, it fitted perfect with no gaps.

You can do it! You have to make up a little plug and lead that goes into the CNET (?) port on the back of the headunit. I'll try and find the link to the DIY thread. I made one to try in my Gen 3, but it did not work as I only have the single din Clarion Unit, not the Double Din McIntosh.

EDIT: Here you go mate, if you are handy with a soldering iron. This should be easy. The hardest bit is getting the cable to stay on the little pins whilst you are soldering :)

This is awesome! Thanks heaps for posting this link man! Definitely will give it a try. :)

Whereabouts did you get the 13-pin plug from? Any idea if there are any actual brick-and-mortar shops that would stock it? Not too keen to buy one off ebay.

Yeah, I spent ages trying to see if I could put one into the 6 stacker plug. Then i found that.

I would highly suggest you get an after market amp though. The sound quality is improved tremendously and you will be surprised how decent the stock speakers are.
