Additional subs... (issues)

Hey guys, I went to elite car sound (local audio shop) and asked about adding my subs from my old car to my 2007 liberty. The guy said i would have issues with the stock Mcintosh amp. Then I went to audiotech (otherside of town) and a guy there said I would have to get some sort of high-pass filter. Was wondering if anyone else has added extra subs to their systems and how they did it or if they had issues (and how they got around them).
Thanks in advance

Do you mean you want to run your factory sub as well? If so, yes you "may" run into issues. Primarily issues surrounding frequency cancellation etc. and it'll sound like shit.
Disconnect existing sub. Install new sub. Problem solved. Just be sure you present a 4ohm load to the amp and you'll be fine.

yes I had planned on running both but if its not an option the new sub would be much better so if i have to disconnect I will. I was just hoping it was possible to do both. Cheers.

Possible? Yes... Good sound quality? No...
More is NOT better. Quality over quantity any day in my books

I've done that to my car. The shop did some high pass filter and RCA conversion kit (I don't know the details, I just said do it) and I have a second amp and 12" sub in the boot and it sounds fine. I've not noticed any frequency cancellation, not that I would probly know it if I heard it... but I'm very happy with how it sounds and that's all that matters to me : )
