Audio installing advise

Postby Stewie1995 » Sat Aug 03, 2013 8:49 pm

Hey,

I just bought my gear.
Ive got

1x rockford fosgate PBR300x2 punch amp
1x rockford fosgate P300x1 punch amp
1x punch p2 sub (400W rms)
2x focal IS165 6.5" speakers w/tweaters

So pretty much myself and my mate are installing it ourselves.
Just after some advice on where afew of you ran your wiring? And the easiest way to wire the battery to the boot of the car?

Would be appreciated :) thanks guys

If I were you I'd put the amplifiers under your seats, means you're only running a speaker cable to the boot for the sub. Are you using a distribution block for the power? I ran my 12v cable from the battery through the main grommet in the firewall and down the side sill to under the passenger seat. Then it was just a matter of running the speaker wire along the side sill and under the back seat to the boot.

Just be careful not to have any power wires near your RCA cables to avoid interference. That may be the case for the speaker wire also however I'm not 100% sure of that.

Yes using distribution block for the power.

And sub amp is quite big so ur would look un-neat and would get frustrating, thats all.

Have you done a trial fit to see if it will fit under there? It doesn't look messy because you can't see them!

Mount the sub amp on the back of the sub box so it is hidden from veiw.

Better off not mounting the amp to the sub box. Main reason is that in the long term the solder joints inside the amp can get damaged due to the vibrations. Another reason is that if for any reason you need to take your sub out for a day or two, you have to disconnect 7 wires minimum as opposed to 2.

Better off building a custom amp rack in the boot if you can't fit it under the seat.

That was another option, got heaps of wood at work and could make something and make it look nice with some lights or whatever or just find somewhere to tuck it away.

I have a Sony 4 channal under my passenger seat and a alpine monoblock for the woofer under the drivers seat, cant see them and looks very neat, i just quickly mention to back seat passengers to be mindful they are there before placing feet under seats

i ran my 12v down passenger side and rcas down the center under the carpet to the amps.. all very nice and easy and looks neat and when the seats went back in , couldnt see a thing
