So mine's always on fast charging, and it's never gone above 1100mA charge rate (even inputting 6.9A as mentioned above), but usually hovers around 750-900mA, depending on how many applications are open, screen brightness, etc. NOTE: My measurements are based off the CurrentWidget app (which I don't think works on Nexus 7 1st gen), so unsure if they're accurate.
At 750-900mA, charge rate is approx 1% every 2 mins.

Thanks for the conformation :good: My battery is constantly draining as I work away for a month at a time. It takes a few hours of driving to charge it back to 100% on the current, hence my interest in the 'fastcharge' feature.

I think if you're away for a month at a time there's no great Nexus solution. if I don't drive my car for 24hrs it will drop about 2%, but driving approx 30mins per day it always stays at 100%.
As mentioned, fast charge is about +1% charge every 2 mins (on my setup anyway). So if your battery was at 10%, that's theoretically 3hrs to get back to full.

Very nicely documented install from NZ via the LGT BtSsm thread :)

My Nexus 2012 install has been challenging.
I am having issues with:

"system UI has stopped" error during boot

battery going flat overnight

co-pilot not allowing the tablet - only if co-pilot is the foreground app. if it is in the background (for eg. if i press the tablet home button) before turning off the car, it appears to sleep

i'm still having trouble with radio static, but am going to re-route the reverse camera rca lead when i get a chance

reverse cam not starting reliably - i'm thinking of upgrading to nexus 2013 and running the beta rom that has built in vcam software

if anyone has any ideas, to save me the upgrade, please let me know

Did you review the link I posted, or look at the whole thread?
There's some good info regarding steps to getting the otg charging working properly.

BBB, to be honest, at the moment, I'm using a 2.1 amp Cigarette lighter supply. I know this isn't the greatest.
However, Ive tried with the hub powered, and the nexus connected to the hub.
I've also tried with the power connected directly to OTG y calbe and the nexus. This doesn't explain the nexus going flat overnight. It should still do the 1-2% overnight shouldn't it?

The reverse cam reliability is doing my head in. This was the main reason I wanted this. Safetly of kids on driveway and hooking up trailer without being paranoid about damage to rear bar and so on....
I've been in contact with the developer of easycap viewer software about it, and he basically said it works fine on autodroid. When I try and flash autodroid rom, all i get is a flashing slimkat logo and it never starts, so i can't install the app to test.

I think this is where the 2013 may be better with the last rom from timur.

Also frustrating that the dash plastics are discontinued from subaru japan. Unless a miracle of a wrecked car in japan, and Jessie Streeter can save us. My cheap ass timer mount (courtesy of McDoof) may be reasonably permanent now. So the fixed plug on the mainboard of the nexus 2013 may no longer be a problem...

Scope creep :(
One job at a time, so you need to get sleep with low power drain working properly either with the rom you have, or get a custom rom installed.

Yes, one job at a time, i know. Lets start with the battery drain.

I have TWRP (if that matters) and an unlocked bootloader
I'm running Timurs USBRom, the very final version, on my nexus 7 2012

How do I go about figuring out what is causing the battery drain overnight?
My thoughts are to charge it up to 100% (in the house) to begin with, and install some app to monitor usage. But which app is recommended for this monitoring?

are you running obd software? that may be preventing the tablet from sleeping according to the faqs section of timur's webpage

Not sure if it definitely is your issue but this is posted in his faq page for the 2013 rom. Not sure if you can apply the same concepts to the 2012 version but might be worth looking into.

Do a search for Torque on this page:
https://timur.mobi/timurs-kernel-n7-2013/faq/

Says it has something to do with the bluetooth profile it uses.

You'll just have to find a way to kill the torque pro app before the sleep sequence.

Tasker with Secure Settings may be able to do that, using a Torque specific command or intent. I'll try dig it up.
https://www.google.com.au/search?q=task ... ent=safari < right there.
You're using Tasker already?
Specifically here: http://blog.brianmoses.net/2012/11/ulti ... rsion.html
I use his method of using dropsync to upload my BtSsm logs to Dropbox :good:

i bought Tasker, but haven't got a clue how to use it....way out of my depth
Automate looks easier, but i still haven't figured that out either...

Well that explains your issue, you can't realistically do a nexus install without COMPLETELY geeking out, IMHO.
You're going to have to learn a bunch of new stuff, or get very good at googling and following instructions, or hope you know someone who can do this stuff for you. :)

But if you bite off little chunks, eg starting with the right rom, you may get there.

To give you an idea, I think I wasted at least one weekend rooting my i9000, and installing Cyanogen.
It was hell.
But I got it in the end, and backed it up using CWM and also to Dropbox. Yes back up the install :P
So maybe pay someone to get your rom installed.

In comparison, tasker is easy and fun.
You can do the simplest stuff with it, or go nuts.
Based on various inputs, mine is switching connectivity, and even replicating swipes and touches for unsupported functions...

But keep it simple and it will be a breeze, the Tasker kill Torque intent works and the link I provided absolutely describes all the steps required to set it up. Did you read the post yet?

Do you have your own thread going on the project? :)
