Agree, Tasker is too complex for me. I just shut it down manually as I rarely use it unless on a long drive.

Strange - that doesn't happen on my N7 2013, though I will admit on my second test N7 2013 unit that doesn't have TP running on it except as required for testing, it manages to sit in suspend for a good 2+ weeks.

In the car, my N7 2013 loses about 4-6% battery per day.
I was going to procrastinate, but I put it off...

I'm trying to find somewhere to buy the 7" Dash Facia to do the Nexus 7 install in my car.
Anyone know where I can buy it? It seems to have been removed from japanparts

It's been formally discontinued. You will need to find one second hand or modify a factory nav fascia from a wrecker to suit.

Ahh man thats crap. That was going to be my next project now that the retune is done.
That bigger fascia won't fit the nexus 7 very well but may open up the opportunity for other larger tablets, seems to be only higher though which surely isn't much use in reality

it is actually a smaller unit.
part# H0017AG915 is the one MOST people are installing their nexus 7 which is 200mm x 100mm.
the avojdm one being sold or part# H0017AG932 is 185mm x 118mm.

the nexus 7 being a 16:10 ratio is 150mm x 90mm.

therefore if it was me i would opt for the H0017AG932.

and for a matter of this forum, would users be able to tell us what fascia they went for?

True. The body of the 2013 one is 114 so will have a bit of a gap on the top or bottom. Will definately fit more squarely in the hole with more equal black bars on all sides

Thanks for the reply guys, I actually got lucky and found someone 20mins from my house who sold me one for $115
I also picked up a nexus 7 2013 for $50 which the previous owner says is stuffed as it just keeps saying 'erasing' so I'm going to see if I can fix it.

Meanwhile I'm gathering all the parts. I see a lot of people have an issue with usb otg cables as they have cheap thin gauge wires and prevent the tablet from pulling much current.
Whats everyones solution for this? Where can we find a good quality thick gauge usb otg cable any ideas?

Nice one. For the most part, it should just be a case of getting it into Download Mode, re-upload the latest firmware and restart.

There are four ways around this issue:

  1. Make your own 28/24AWG cable.
  2. Find someone who will make you a 28/24AWG cable.
  3. Import a 28/24AWG cable.
  4. Deliberately overvolt the power source slightly to overcome the shortcomings of your FleaBay OTG cable, eg: if your 5v PSU ends up only feeding 4.8v into the tablet, then you could overvolt it to 5.2v to feed 5.0 volts into the tablet. Get a PSU with adjustable voltage output to make this easy. Usual disclaimer: there is some potential tablet damage risk involved in doing this.
In any case I recommend buying something to measure the voltage, such as this inline USB tester so you can at least see the quality of the cables you are trying out.
I was going to procrastinate, but I put it off...
