Hmmm, I don't know about pricing, but would you somehow be able to do it through HDMI out instead of having to buy 3 separate Tablets?

Only paid $99 each for 2 Nexus 7 2012 and not a whole lot more than that for a 2013 model. So not much difference in price to what you've linked.

Hi all,

Not sure if these questions have been addressed before so I'll ask anyway. These relate to a 2013 nexus 7 which I believe has slightly different dimensions to its predecessor...

Are the vents on the 7" nav panel narrower than those on the existing cubby panel? From pictures I've seen it looks like it.

And if they are narrower am i right to assume the nexus 7 fits in between without any need to cut the vents (which seems to be the only option if you are modifying a cubby panel and vents)?
Therefore the only hole needed is to route the otg y cable through vent system?

What are using to get your ODBII read outs on the screen? What app? Tactrix cable?

Yes they're narrower to accommodate the screen oepning which is wider than the cubby.

Yes correct on both. Fits between no problems. Need to cut a hole in the vent to route the OTG cable through, or open the Nexus 7 up and re-route the USB connector out the back of the unit (need to cut the back cover)

I bought Timur's ROM for the N7 2013 and tried to do it myself using the above links and Timur's own instructions but I couldn't follow it despite my numerous questions to him directly. I'm pretty tech-savvy except for anything Linux-related which makes no sense to me. It seemed there might have been a step or 2 missing in the guide, and most of the XDA Forum contributors are hardcore hackers with vocabularies completely foreign which is no help to a novice.
Is there anyone in Melbourne who could assist with getting the his ROM on my Nexus for a small fee? If so pls PM me. Not in a hurry.

Cheers Chris - much appreciated. I don't really want to post it though in case it gets lost/damaged.

When you updated it, did you install the correct version of play store/google apps? you should be able to download the correct version of GApps push it to your root directory on the nexus and then install the .zip with your custom recovery??

i know this is for the nexus 5, but the nexus devices are all pretty much the same, its pretty well laid out and well.. easy
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/guide-nexus-5-how-to-unlock-bootloader-t2507905
tips,
when he quotes Code with the first being "cd" you can skip this line by first opening your command window in that directory, shift / right click / open command window

to clear things up the nexus 7 2012 has a USB ROM, the nexus 7 2013 has a USB KERNEL, two very different things, but what isn't different about them is that you should have the three steps done in that guide BEFORE you try to push the KERNEL.zip onto your device

unlock your bootloader
push and install a custom recovery, personally TWRP is my favorite
install SU binaries.
now you will have a stock r00ted device and can simply copy the kernel to your nexus , boot into recovery and install from zip
do a reset, clear your cache
happy times

too easy!
first time I had that issue, I ended up with a bricked phone ha!
the key with the whole rooting process is to go slow and stay calm when it doesn't work

So I ordered a Minibox over the weekend, as my so called 3A ebay job, really wasn't cutting the mustard at all...(dont even go there unless you dont plan on ever using GPS or wireless etc)

I see that a lot of people tweak these up to 5.4v to give it good sufficient charge, but can this have an impact on other devices plugged into the USB hub? (memory stick, UCA202 etc)

Also, does anyone have a photo of where to tap a the constant 12v leg from (fusebox)?

Cheers
