I am attempting to remove my 6 CD Changer from my gen 4, because my radio appears with the error 'error 99'
when I switch it to CD. I can't find any information on the error and the staff at my local Subaru repairer don't
Want to give me the time of day.

Ive currently removed the gear and ash tray console and the side trims but I'm having trouble removing the
Integrated face plate so I can get to the stereo. Can anyone help with these final stages of ripping this thing out?

Also has anyone ever received the error before or heard about it?

Thanks

There should be six screws (3 on either side) holding the head unit into the car. The face plate doesn't get removed.

You've already removed the ashtray and the side trims, so you're mostly done.

Ok cool. So I've now removed the 4 that are on the black brackets. Must I remove the 2 on the silver brackets?
They kinda seem pointless cause It looks like they are holding the casing for the stereo? There are also an additional 2 screws in the distance that are mounted to a silver bracket and they look like they belong with the from 2 as well. Is this correct?

yes, undo all 6,
remove teh whole CC unit and Stereo

then you can separate the parts once it's out

Yes, there are 3 screws either side. The middle ones are on the stainless brackets off the top of my head.

I think there is a thread here somewhere about this CD changer fault and IIRC there was a bloke in Canberra who can fix it.

Maybe someone can confirm?
