Unplugged the GROM unit and sound came back for all sources. Once Cushie open back up I'll be sending my unit back and purchasing just a straight through AUX input FSL-21 or equivilant.

this is the same as what mine is doing. cant swap sources, no sound via bluetooth or usb and my radio and screen resets every now and then. basically, its just a piece of $#!+.
interested to see how the anycarlink goes as i see no point in keeping the grom.

jongyrocka wrote:soo all you people that are complaining about SWC not working, does this mean it works fine when you are actually controlling it from the head unit?
I cannot even do that, nor can I get a squeak of sound out from my iPod...I would be happy to use this unit without the SWC (I forget they even exist anyway)
I am using the IPD3 GROM...

i cant speak for the ipod but no, i had no control over my phone at all unless i used the phone itself.

Hey guys,

Our basis for our "works with MY08" is this post: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=16196&start=330#p295594

We havn't had anyone able to make an Anycar work with a MY08 Subaru.
Also, the Kenwood based Subaru units usually don't even have the correct changer connector that the Anycar uses.
See my post here: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=16196&start=315#p285754

Thanks,

Matt

So db1 isn't the only one who's managed to get the GROM working with the Post FL Mac unit....? Damn.

I have noticed a few times the quote "Works via CD Changer".... am i the only one who's connection from the GROM to the headunit was like a jumper cable that connected via what seemed to be the main harness for the head unit and not via the smaller CD changer port (if there is one on the later model Mac)?

I should mention my car is a MY07 (build 06), not the later updated MY08+.

After ordering a Anylink 1080B and being somewhat frustrated that it didn't work, Wavetech swapped it out for the Grom IPD3-Sub and Grom Cable -BTD.

FINALLY installed the unit over the weekend and it works a treat.

So for the record

MY08 TBSTi McIntosh in dash CD Head unit
+ Grom IPD3-Sub
++Grom Cable - BTD

Works via CD Changer
Streams audio via Bluetooth
Phone calls crisp and clear
Volume better than radio
Steering wheel controls work to track up and down
Steering wheel controls work to Answer / reject calls
Auto answer of phone when switching input
No track name on Bluetooth Streaming
Yes track name on IPod connection

Great unit, Great customer service

I now have a RAM mount from the US and run the Tom Tom Navigation app on the Iphone 5, with music playing and able to answer calls.

Very happy and a great solution for MY08 McIntosh

Yeah I've tried iphone and ipod, but nothing...They appear to be playing when I select the changer (eg the play symbol comes up, track is playing etc) but no audio...I would be happy if I could just control it via the ipod/iphone, I just want some goddam fricking tunes without me having to burn stupid mp3 cds, which I never do!

No one has confirmed with me yet whether they get audio thru the MY08 post FL Mcintosh system with a GROM IPD3 box

Maybe I have a faulty box or cable...

Of course I can always go with the AUX-in option, but that doesnt pause/stop my ipod when I turn the ignition off etc....

So I think I'm joining the Grom no workie club. :(

This morning driving into work the HU restarted itself and I lost all Grom functions including bluetooth. Played around with it for a few minutes but couldn't get it working again, so left it as is. In the arvo, got in the car and everything worked. Halfway to my Mum's and boom shat itself again. Didn't get a chance to look at it, but when I left to go home everything works again! WTF@!@#$#!

Anyway its working atm but I'm sure its not for long. I'll pull everything out on the weekend to investigate further.

Just checked mine, it's made in Japan. I tried using the other EXT port but still no deal.

On a side note, the USB only charges at 500mA which is unlikely to be sufficient if you're using GPS on a android phone, not sure about iphones.

So I pulled the HU out and mines made in Japan. The only problem I could see was the connection being easily loosened as it doesn't click in, as theironyuppie mentioned, so I taped it down. I'll have to wait till Monday to see if anything's changed

Does that mean yours works now Steve? Or are you refering to the charge.

Think he means charging.

I thought the clip was loose as well but you just need to press a bit harder and it locks in place.
