Hey All
I am looking to upgrade my alternator, I have a 2007 3.0 Spec. B and have already done the Big 3, though am finding certain lights still dim when the audio system is cranked (JL Audio 13W7)
I have heard that a 160A alternator can be bolted straight in, though am trying to find whether this is the largest i can get and what sort of costs I would be looking at
any information would be highly appreciated
thanks in advance
Daniel

No unless you're running 4+ amps, battery and grounds upgraded and still get dims.
Now days most setups needs decent battery and ground and you're fine.

I have an Optima Yellow Top and upgraded earth and alternator power wires, i recently installed a stinger SPC121 Capacitor to give the battery a bit of a hand keeping constant voltage as the gel cycle battery's are more for endurance instead of constantly working to keep voltage, have had the yellow top for almost 4 years now and still at 100% life (as the battery tester as work reads anyhow)
am just looking to upgrade the alternator, i need to get the numbers off the stock one to be able to find a replacement, life has been hectic lately also in the wet season so when i do find time its usually pissing down, just tryna find a bit of feedback if anyone has done this to a similar model
and yes i did take a read to that thread the other night, seems he has big plans to install dual alternator's which i think is a bit extreme i am trying my best to jeep everything as close to factory as possible thus why i am trying to find a bolt on upgrade for the alternator, cant find the htread where i read it but someone has replaced the stock with a 160A alternator, i will either do the same if correct or if a bigger version is available will be looking at that
