Hey guys.

I wanted to put up some pics of my new sound system.... I have resigned from the fact that there are really no mods I can do to improve the power of my 2.5 N/A wagon (Thanks Hitachi ECU!), so I decided to put a little money into my system.

It's definitely not the most amazing system, but I thought I'd share it to give some ideas to people (esp. those who are thinking of upgrading to a double din unit).

I've kept the speakers in the Alpine family... type r splits in the front and type r's in the rear doors. I actually rate these speakers pretty highly.... they hold a great deal of mid/bass in them and can handle a decent amount of power (110 rms?)

The speaker box is custom made, and I'm running two 12 inch type r's.... It's a bit of overkill, but I'm partial to a bit of dubsteb atm so it's working out nicely haha.
Running two kicker amps... 1 monoblock 750 watts and a 4 channel at 650 rms... powers the type r's very nicely.

The head unit is a Pioneer AVH8450BT...... dvd's, bluetooth, blah blah blah. The fascia kit was ordered online from JVM for about $420 delivered.
Add in the wiring kits, dynomat and a couple of extra bits and it cost just over $2200........

Anyway, hope some of you like it... However... haters gonna hate haha.

Nice looking HU. Hows the UI? and does it have Nav?

I like the AVH8450BT as well. That was my choice for a HU also. It integrates really nicely with the dash.

It's pretty user friendly. Very easy to navigate around. It does have navi through this thing called advanced app mode.
Basically runs an app off your iPhone- very accurate too. I've figured out how to listen to radio while you run the app, still trying to figure out how to play music from another mp3 source while using the navigation app but.

Overall very happy and impressed with it.

Great minds think alike haha. It's a good HU for sure. Stoked I got mine on eBay for $699 while everywhere else wanted $850-$1099.

Not sure if you have the steering wheel controls, might be more directed to you Richard

But after installing the Pioneer HU, were you able to retain the controls that are on the steering wheel ie change track/volume
Thats been my biggest concern before upgrading to an aftermarket HU

Hey mate. Yeah my lib doesn't have the steering wheel controls, but I'm sure I read somewhere along the way that others had the same question and were able keep using them.

Yep, it requires a Metra Axxess ASWC Steering Wheel Control Interface or similar but any decent installer will have them on the shelf for around $100.00.

Hey mate! Unfortunately I don't I didn't think to get progress shots haha. I left my car at home one day while I was at work and my installer came out and did it all so it was a present for when I got home

Mate, where can I find JVM online? Hook me up with the URL please! I'm in need of a fascia kit! I can't deal with CDs and a lack of BT no more!
