No stereo sound.

Stereos, amps, phone kits, Navi...

No stereo sound.

Postby scoobielibertywagon » Fri Sep 07, 2012 5:02 pm

Hi all,

First post I tried my ass put to find the info but couldn't.

My battery died on my 08 liberty and I replaced it... Once I got back into my car I'm getting no sound at all through my speakers. Hu works fine but I'm getting nothing else. I'm guessing that when I was putting the new battery in I managed to blow my amp or hopefully just a fuse or something? Any thoughts? Does anybody know where the amp is located and what speakers run off it etc?

Also I've been trying to find the details of the mcintosh system in the liberty wagons? It says it has a 13 or 14 speaker stereo but I can't seem to find them all? Does anybody have the specs, wiring diagram, speaker sizes or even just the speaker locations? I am looking to upgrade the speakers.

Thanks

Amp is under passenger seat.

Speakers are as follows:

4 in each of the front doors (6" woofer, 4" mid woofer, 1" tweeter and a squaker next to the mirror)
1 6" coaxial speaker in each rear door (subaru in their wisdom count this as 2 speakers)
1 8" sub in the boot
1 center speaker on top of the dash

Fuse locations should be stated in the owners manual, I can't help here as I don't have a McIntosh system.

Sounds like a fuse for your amp, I have a Macintosh system but haven't had any issues with it.
I'll have a look tomorrow for the fuses and let you know where they are located

Thanks for that info too mihai. I don't suppose you would happen to know the watts for each channel? Just so I can figure out if it would be worth putting aftermarket speakers straight in or if I'd need a new amp aswell.

Cheers

I don't know the exact ratings of the speakers, but I highly doubt they would have much power driving them.

IIRC I think the McIntosh sub is rated at 50W RMS so I'd assume the speakers are each rated at about 20W RMS. But, that just an assumption.

Does anybody know the size of the centre speaker in the dash? And is there a guide or video anybody can recommend that shows the best way to acces each speaker? I've had problems in the past where I have started pulling and stabbing at things with a screwdriver and made a mess of my interior. Thanks

Removal of the doorcards is normally the easiest way to access the speakers. Just forget about the centre speaker if I were you. Leave it disconnected.

best way to deal with the centre speaker is to disconnect it.

they are pointless not big enough to do anything and expencive if you do want to replace because of the labour involved.

better off getting a good quality set of splits in your front doors something in your rears if you wanted and a good quality amp thats speaker wise

if you dont have any luck with the amp fuse check the fuse labeled "back up" in your engine bay fuse box diagram think its #9 from memory but not certain an replace it anyway as i blew it once an it still looked good but replaced it an it fixed my stero problems
