Anyone ever pulled one of the McIntosh head units apart to unjam the CD in the stacker?

Any luck with this? Let us all know if and how you can dismantle and retrieve the cd.

I just did this tonight

its fairly simple - the only tedious bit is the data cables (orange strip type thingo - sorry dont know the techincal name for it) when you pull the top and front part of the casing apart.

the trickiest bit is the front cover (the panel with the dials \ knobs \ buttons on it), as this needs to clip into the ports tightly for illumination.

just be careful to reassemble correctly

Hopefully you have better luck than i did as i managed to get the cd's unstuck but the cd player will still not allow me to load any new cd's - gonna try some more contact cleaner to loosen the cartridge up a little and hopefully free it up otherwise it might need to go to a repairer

Good luck

Or keep your eye out for guys doing awesome-o audio installs and you might be about to pick up a cheap second hand one.

true that

im one of those guys planning an awesome-o-audio install but cannot see the reason to change the mcintoss just yet (i think ive figured out a way to cross the outputs from the mcintosh down \ up to suit a completely tunable setup) - time will tell i guess

This once happened to me. A cd wouldn't come out.

What I did was insert another 5 to fill the stacker. This I'm guessing pushed the stuck one back into its rightful place and I then removed all 6.

I remember someone else I knew doing the same thing.

Hasn't happened to me since.

Hope this helps.

I basically did the same thing, CD wouldn't come out, filled up the stacker, pressed eject a couple of times and eventually got it out!
