Sat nav confused

My sat nav seems to have lost it- my wife can even provide better directions.
I can put in an addres and it locates it correctly. Then it tries to take a very Long route to get there often going in the totally wrong direction and doesnt correct to a normal route as you get closer to the spot. I have never even tried following the map as it seems ridiculous.

I tried removing the disc and starting again but it is still the same.
Running the 2007 bspec, with some old map- 2005 I think. It used to work fine then one day started acting Ike it had dementure.

Any help???

Is there some sort of reset defaults in the options menu?

That's what I am looking for but can't see how.
