Macintosh sub doesnt sound as good in 07 as it did in my 05

Ive noticed that my sub doesnt quite sound right in the 07.

I thought it sounded a lot better in my 05.

Has anyone else had any issues with the sub/rear parcel in their 07/08?

I'm trying to diagnose whether the speaker is possibly damaged.

Any suggestions appreciated

Ben

I'm not sure, I can't compare - however maybe you could try sound deadening it.

Can you describe how it doesn't sound right?

I'll have a listen when I come over, hopefully next week :)

I was playing around a little bit with it and it may be a parcel shelf rattle.

It just seems more pronounced than in the '05.

I'm curious as to whether other people with 07 models have had this issue.

Id also love to hear from anyone that can tell me how I can diagnose whether its an issue with the actual sub or not.

regards
Ben

Ben I had rattles wen i first got the car. I took it to service a few times with no luck. So i went home and checked myself and in 5 secs i found out its the rear brake light bumping against the rear window. You need to stick a small piece of that thick foam tape.

Phil.

I had exactly the same problem - the dealer said it was a faulty subwoofer and replaced it.

Yeah my parcel shelve vibrates like a horny house wife. I just slipped some folded paper between the shelf and the metal and fixed it. I thought it was a common problem in all Lib GTs

this is pretty embarrassing but just so this thread is put to rest.

I took the car to Sti Docklands and Vin Macaro who runs the place came out.

Popped his head in the back, called me over, so I could watch the 1 second it took to clip the child seat restraint cover clip in properly and miraculously fixed the problem.

I'm yet to do the sound deadening too. Does it make a noticeable difference? How much did you need?

Gave up on the crap 8in "sub" firing from the back corner of the wagon and getting phase cancellation cos it aint sealed.

Now run a sealed 12" in a box and work much better (even off the stock amp)
