Problem - Mcintosh turns itself off every ten seconds

Postby bates91 » Tue Apr 24, 2012 2:00 pm

This only started a couple of days ago.
my mcintosh stock system will turn itself off randomly, sometimes every 3 seconds, sometimes every 10 seconds or more. it turns itself back on though, almost like its resetting?
radio, cd, axxess ipod input, doesnt matter what its playing it happens regardless
no issues while its playing either (for those limited few seconds lol).

if i manually turn it off it occasionally displays the "SUBARU" writing after a minute or two, like its half the start-up sequence but then goes to black /off
any ideas before i take it to an audio specialist?
/ recommendations where to go? from what i read FHRX are one of the best regarding setups, but are they good diagnostically as well?

hoping this doesnt turn into an expensive venture :(

Take it to FHRX mate, sounds like it could be on its way out. Perfect time to speak to Marty about an aftermarket solution

Have you changed anything recently?

i have the random glitch where all the centre console operations stop working.
i blame it on teh Axxess cable.
my Mac also makes noises as if the CD changer is constantly changing CD's

yet to unplug the Axxess and test

F*CK YOUR WALLET!!! This is about your Liberty. Don't deny her the honour of being worked on by FHRX. They're even better than me at installs, which is hard for me to admit.

unplugged the axxess to test....and whaddya know, it works fine now!! havnt tested it on any long drives yet, just for a minute or two in my driveway but no turning itself off/resetting whatever.
will try reconnect it in a week, and if the problem comes back its clearly something wrong with the axxess cable unit. might have to find someone else with a mcintosh unit to test it on

saved me an expensive trip to fhrx, more money for other mods now :D
