Got an Email back from Kent at About Sound regarding a working iPod connector for the MY08 as the anycar did not work in this yea and i thought i would share it here for the list to be updated.
------------------------
I finally got my hands on a MY08 McIntosh system to find a solution for iPod connectivity. The unit did exactly the same thing that your one did using the AnyCar link. I have found a unit that will work! It is the Grom Audio iPD3 adapter and it worked perfectly on the MY08 I had.
If you're still interested we can do this unit for $178 NZD delivered. I have ordered a few of these units and they should be here in about 2 weeks.
Regards

Kent

Well A big thankyou to the community here and Wavetech Imports!!

After ordering a Anylink 1080B and being somewhat frustrated that it didn't work, Wavetech swapped it out for the Grom IPD3-Sub and Grom Cable -BTD.

FINALLY installed the unit over the weekend and it works a treat.

So for the record

MY08 TBSTi McIntosh in dash CD Head unit
+ Grom IPD3-Sub
++Grom Cable - BTD

Works via CD Changer
Streams audio via Bluetooth
Phone calls crisp and clear
Volume better than radio
Steering wheel controls work to track up and down
Steering wheel controls work to Answer / reject calls
Auto answer of phone when switching input
No track name on Bluetooth Streaming
Yes track name on IPod connection

Great unit, Great customer service

I now have a RAM mount from the US and run the Tom Tom Navigation app on the Iphone 5, with music playing and able to answer calls.

Very happy and a great solution for MY08 McIntosh

What dollars did this setup knock you back mate. Sounds perfect, although it seems there is a difference between MY06-07 McIntosh units and MY08+.

Hi,

We are actually starting to recommend the Grom unit over Anycar for Subaru vehicles.
This is mainly due to the Grom unit being compatible with both Kenwood & McIntosh systems and works on newer systems as well.

bosc0 - You should have no problems using the Grom :)

Thanks,

Matt

Just fitted my Clarion EA1251 03-06 to my MY05 Liberty STi.

Works well. Anybody know the best way to configure iPod setlists so you can play songs you want? other than sitting there and skipping 4000 songs...

Have only the songs you want to listen to on your iPod?

You can set 5 playlists.

You have to name them clarion1, clarion2, etc.

Great thread.

Recently picked up a 05 3.0r and found one pain the headunit can not be changed without spending $400~ without a headunit. After a lot of reading and looking around for different options I am now looking at grabbing the grom, seems to be a highly compatible with iPod/iPhone, AUX and Android(great for people who put music on their phone).

Now just wondering if a few other would on here are interested? Possible a group buy?
Only asking as if there are some good number maybe able to pick the unit up a bit cheaper and save on postage.

(Yes I am a new member... Just look at my post count so don't think I can post in the buy/sell section just yet. If anyone else want to attempted a group buy for the grom unit let me know. please)

I'd be interested in both the Grom box and bluetooth unit mentioned earlier in this thread.
