And I really appreciate all the help/feedback/guidance/caution I get from you guys, big ups!

I have a MY05 MY06 Liberty 3.0r and the xcarlink didnt work either

Yep tim_ & fluf are the two failures I'm aware of. Fluf did you order the ipod or usb version of the xcarlink?

Updated OP to include reference to cvas' installation walkthrough, a new 'what would I do' section and added detail on recent xcarlink issues.

Fluf, look at it again.
it's a proper ipod interface not just a Aux Jack.

And do you have any more info/ Links on what "doesn't fit"

Also, I'm enquiring with my Local Subie Parts Slinger on local availability and pricing for the OEM products

Will know something early next week

I just called the dealer. He said its good for an MY07/08.
Prepare to be bombarded with more install photos haha.

*edit* That is, if I can get it to work..
**edit** I am refering to the aux cable connector thing and plug that sits in your centre console. Which has probably been discussed before.
