Very confused!

Hey, had a problem with my 07 GT-B liberty McIntosh system earlier. After turning the car off then back on, my stereo has no sound, but still changes CDs and has power to the head unit, so i pull the fuse, put it back in and the stereo works fine and i have full volume. Until i turn my car off and on again, then the volume is gone.

Has anyone had this problem before? Thanks.

McIntosh I think has a amp somewhere maybe you should look at that and see if everything is good there.

Garbo's brain has unfortunately shut down for 2011 due to unforeseen circumstances (read: xmas parties). TBH, I have read this a couple of times and have been trying to troubleshoot but it is certainly a difficult prob. I'd need to see the car and spend a couple of hours pulling the dash apart and a multimetre.

In other news, I am currently auditioning a set of DLS Nordica 6.2's for a $1200 speaker they are mildly disappointing.

There is a terrific set of Crescendo's 9.9 for sale on MEA if you are looking for a new front stage. Or you can try
ScanSpeak Revelator 18W/4531G 7" Mid-Woofers 4 ohm and ScanSpeak Illuminator D3004/6620-00 Tweeters from
Madisound.
I've been toying with the idea for a while and was just about to buy them when a set of Crescendo 8.6 came up for $450.00 and I couldn't say no. Now I'm thinking I should have gone the ScanSpeak.
I think it could possibly be the best DIY 2-way ever IMHO and much cheaper than $1200.00.
That way you could audition them for me and it wouldn't cost me a cent..

Sorry for the off topic. I got carried away.
Richard.

Went to alberts and they tell me that the amplifier keeps shorting out and its fried, they suggest i go to subaru because if alberts do the fix they will need to install 2 amps to power all the speakers. So I go to subaru, and for a replacement stock standard amplifier, $1493!

$1493! ouch.
Elite electronics sell a pretty good 5 channel. Alpine PDX-5 for $560.00 I found the other day.
http://www.elite-electronics.com.au/ind ... cts_id=195
Or Hertz HDP5 for a little bit more but is much better.
You will lose your centre channel though. (you won’t miss it with the extra you gain from the fronts)
I’m pretty sure I’ve read someone on here can make you a wiring loom and you should be able to do yourself.
You can buy some decent front splits and a new subwoofer some Dynamat and still be under $1493 and you will have a pretty decent sounding car.

Richard.

LOL! With that money you could buy the fascia kit, new headunit, new mono block amp + sub and you will have MUCH better sound than the stock system.

Thanks guys, that 5 channel alpine amp looks alright! Ended up going back to Alberts, getting twin alpine amps 4 channel installed and tuned up for $850. Am expecting much better sound quality :)
