Also, off topic question regarding speakers...theres 13 yet i can only find 11 (including the sub) where are the last two hidden?

The fronts are tweeters so they count them as two because technically there are two "speakers" inside the enclosure

That would mean there are more 13 speakers? that would make it 14 speakers?

I got the 4 in each front door, got the 1 in each rear door, got the sub but i never knew about the dash speaker...went down and had a look and it looks like an air vent to demist the windscreen.

Sorry man i dont understand...in my 05 lib there are 4 speaker grills up each front door, i would assume from that that there are 8 speakers in the front (4 in each door). Are you saying that one pair of speakers in the front is actally two pairs of speakers...if so which speakers in the front door are you reffering to? Thanks

The facelift McIntosh models come with a 14 speaker system.

4 in each of the front doors (woofer, mid, tweeter and squaker)
2 in each of the rear doors (well technically 1 coax but as it has a woofer with a tweeter mounted to the woofer they count this at 2  )
1 on the parcel shelf (the sub)
1 on the dash

Red book says my car has a 13 speaker setup...does that mean my car must be pre-facelift?

Yup. MY04-06 is pre facelift. MY07-09 is post.

Preface has no dash speaker, so yes it's 13 speakers total. 4 in front doors, 2 in rears (1 speaker but it's a coax so they count 2) and the sub ;)

Lucky bastard. Whoever thought it would be a good idea to make the dash look like shit for the sake of an extra crappy speaker in a system that already has 13 needs to be shot.

:offtopic:
Do the 2.5i have the same dash as the GT but without the middle speaker, or do all post facelift cars have 14?
If so would it be possible to swap the dash out or would I be losing other functionality too?

I really hate that damn speaker. And I'll be doing a stereo upgrade later anyway so that speaker will not even be connected.

Slots straight in. He said he does this now instead of the vibe as it's newer tech. I'm wondering if I will be happy with it though. It's so hard to gauge over the net, some people rekon their 8inch rips, others say don't waste the money.

He is doing it for $205 delivered with the plug on the end so I just unscrew the old one, screw the new one in, and plug it in. Sounds easy.....

Anyway, has anyone confirmed this?
Seems like a good unit.

Cheapest I can find the Polk MM840 is ~100US + shipping.

I was waiting until I get my ipod cable installed/working before I get the sub. The 6 stacker has packed it in, and I'm not a fan of the radio, so didn't want to spend the $$$ yet.

I've just installed my first ipod cable/adapter that DOESN'T work, so I'm in no hurry for the sub, but will get it eventually, I think...

Ah right. I just looked for the 'MM'.
Now only $80 on Amazon, but they dont ship to Aus :-/
Might have to use a forwarding company.

If we get 4 or 5 units, might be worth it ;p
