Has anyone tried the Soundstream RF-8W 8" 180W RMS 4-Ohm REFERENCE SUBWOOFER running of a aftermarket AMP?
I'm finally getting around to upgrading the speakers etc after I upgraded the HU a couple of years ago.
I'm not looking for P plater type doosh doosh base but i don't think i have ever heard the rear, so much so i unplugged it and didn't notice the difference. lol.
I'm just looking to round out the sound its all, nothing dramatic but something quality without resorting to a trunk sub that will take up my boot space.

Also anyone used Alpine MRX-V70 X-Power 5-Channel as well? Keep in mind I don't want to blow the doors off.
--
I'll be sure to post a walkthrough of what I've done after but i just wanted to find out if anyone has actually replaced the sub successfully.
As I'm only adding front and rear speakers and sound dampening right now running off the HU.
Mainly because it doesn't require pulling the interior trim apart, but it's on the menu soon hence I'm looking at amp and sub so i can use the 3 RCA preouts. I’m looking at the Alpine MRX-V70 X mainly because it’s 5 channel but it’s also small enough to fit under the passenger seat in the same spot as the OEM AMP.

Im also looking for a replacment sub for my 4GEN sedan, the sub itself works and sounds like it has a good enough kick to it however the viabration/rattle from the parcel shelf is quite loud. I have read you get alot of viabration if the speaker is blown but i would of thought it just wouldnt work at all if it was blown

Is this normal and Is there a quick fix for this?

Nice. Review sound fairly good. Are you using the stock amp or did you install a separate one?
I've just destroyed my second MacIntosh sub replaced under warranty, so time to upgrade it I think ;p

nah just ran it off the stock amp.

then my front speakers blew too, so went with polk splits and dynamat, goes good now. not as good as re-amping of course but still better than stock.

yeah I spoke to marty from fhrxstudios and he suggested http://www.morelhifi.com/products/mob_s ... primo.html

Slots straight in. He said he does this now instead of the vibe as it's newer tech. I'm wondering if I will be happy with it though. It's so hard to gauge over the net, some people rekon their 8inch rips, others say don't waste the money.

He is doing it for $205 delivered with the plug on the end so I just unscrew the old one, screw the new one in, and plug it in. Sounds easy.....

Marty is the man, he will always do the right thing.
If you can go to FHRX though and walk out of there for only $205.00 you should get a friggin medal.

How's that lucky?

I'm trying to find the upsides of being nowhere near FHRX and Phat.

Excuse the Noobness but if it was no worse than stock why did you replace it? Better sound?

the stock one... the cone disintergrated soo much it fell out. what i meant was that the parcel shelf doesnt rattle any worse than stock. its still underpowered with the stock amp, but still sounds better than the stock one.

my stock front speakers also disintergrated/tore. the whole stock system is rubbish. but i dont feel like outlaying lots of cash for a 5 channel amp when the HU sucks anyway. so im happy with my result over replacing the entire system.

I can only ever find 12, there is 4 in each front door, 1 in each rear door, the sub on the back parcel shelf and one in the dash at the front center where the windscreen meets the dash. The 13th one I do not know?? Might be a smaller hidden sub or something :?
