iOS5 & HU compatibility

Postby seanmau5 » Tue Nov 08, 2011 5:29 pm

Quick question. Who has upgraded their iPod/iPhone to iOS5 & lost the ability for it to be used through an aftermarket HU? I did my iPod touch software upgrade last night & now it can't be recognized by my JVC HU. When I connect my iphone4 bingo! not a problem..

One of the main reasons I went aftermarket & bought an iPod was for this!!

I have a feeling the install was corrupted. Did a new whole new reinstall and it seems to be working alright now.

I had songs on my iPod but they weren't showing up when I opened the music player. Must've been the issue

Blame Apple for peripheral connectivity. Always have had issues with Apple devices.

Glad I switched to the dark side... HTC.

There has been talk about iOS5 compatibility with headunits on MEA. They recommended not to upgrade to iOS5 (if you used your ipod/iphone in the car often) until things were made clearer about which headunits supported it and what not.

Best recommendation is get an old school 5th gen iPod Video or iPod classic. They don't run iOS so it will always work with any headunit currently out. Plus they have a larger storage capacity than the ipod touches.

Good to know, cheers mate. Well as I said, I did the install again and it seems to be working now *touchs wood*

We will see what happens.
