iPod/iPhone Connection for MY08 GTB with Mac HU

Have any of you out there tried to install the iPod connection which Subaru provide as an option in MY10/11 Lib GT's, into a MY08 model with Macintosh HU? Seeing as the MY10/11 are also Mac units I was curious if the connection at the back would be the same?
Alternate to the factory Subaru option, has anyone had success with any other units which would enable the iPod/iPhone to charge as well as let me track up/down via the HU and steering wheel controls? (without locking the ipod out so that playlists ha to be created) Or better yet, has anyone come across a Bluetooth connection which will work? Cushie Audio provide this great option but only for the standard Subie HU, not Macintosh ones which is very unfortunate.
I recently installed an aftermarked unit (not sure of product number as I tossed out the paperwork) which is actually for a Honda HU but the dealer said it would work on Subies also. This unit works the same as an AUX cable expect it also enables the iPod to charge so its slightly better than a standard AUX connection. So i have something but would prefer to be able to track up/down via the HU and wheel.
