Its an easy sales pitch for the ignorant

You'd think if McIntosh go for a 4 way split in the front door they'd do a decent job though

They would, me'thinks, if they had the budget to do it. But in their defense and like i've always said - its the best stereo you are going to find in a AWD turbo car for under $60,000.

and in all fairness - it's a good sounding setup for a stock system without changing it.

I'm interested in buying a second Macintosh head unit from anyone who's planning on replacing theirs...

Hi all, just joined so here's my first post!

Had the '07 2.0R's driver's door speaker replaced twice under warranty by Docklands Subaru, they popped, and died both times, but am considering adding the under-seat subwoofer to aid the woeful-lack-of-bass situation, which a colleague of mine has done to his '07 Liberty...

So, 5.25" is the standard front door speaker size then, am I right ?

your correct, my car is the GT Premium and it has 12 speakers and 1 sub, so yeah 13 speakers total. but the quality of them is still quite lacking. Definatly worth upgrading

6.5" if it's the same as the 2.5i, which I would presume that it is.

Also you would be surprised how much better the stock speakers sound simply by installing a better head unit. The underseat subwoofer is marginally good I would be more inclined to go for an 8" freeair sub in the parcel shelf using the factory mount, if you want a reasonable amount of bass.
