New boot install

Hi guys,

Had a little surprise gift and spent some money over the last few months which is great since the trouble's i had with the car

Specs:
Alpine Type X 10"Subs x 2
Alpine PDX 1.1000 mono block powering both subs
Pioneer 6.5" shallow mount splits up front
Alpine PDX 4.150 powering fronts (rear channel not used yet)
Alpine IVA-520e (i think) double din media centre (this has been in for a few months now)
Optima Yellow top to power the combo

Cost $ :assassin: lol

Sound: you bet ya
Overall a nice balance in sound when the bass is turned down. Turn up the bass and sub volume, and well, with some nice deep tones (rnb sounds best) lets say everything inside and outside the car shakes like crazy hehe

this was a nice little gift from the parents which was a huge surprise.

The boot i designed and spent a few weeknights (i work 7 days now how fun) with dad building it and wiring it up.
I installed a 1m long led strip under the boot lip which is wired into the standard light socket, it really lights up in the dark

I have some progress pics i'll load up later to show how it went together

the beauty is that the centre part i designed to open up for easy access to the spare wheel and if i want to load up groceries or anything i still can. lets say this weekends drive to echuca will be a lot more enjoyable :D

Of course its not finished, is anything ever done?
I have some blue led strips coming which will be stuck under the amps and wired into the remote wire for power, so will be a blue light under the amps when they are turned on. This matches the blue lights on the alpine amps

Grilles for the subs, i need something to help protect them if i load stuff into the boot (ie camping over easter will require boot space)

Wiring, i need to see how i can hide or neaten the wiring, i'll try some conduit this week

Great work John, I was actually thinking about a similar approach to yours when I finally get around to it financial wise, might need a few tips and tricks ;)

Looks good mate. The new Alpine amps are pretty good especially that they are getting so much smaller.

How come you went with shallow mount front speakers???

Well from what i saw, there isnt a lot of room, ideally i'd have gotten either the Type x components or some Polk audio components, but there is only around 50mm to play with
The fronts are the Pioneer TS-D1720C speakers, got the recommendation from car audio australia who did an install into a liberty

Fair enough, if you ever feel the need to upgrade I had installed a set of Digital Designs 6.5" splits into my Gen4 with a spacer and there was no issues with spacing, and they had a massive magnet on them.

Very neat install John, well done.

Personally I would have mounted the amps under the front seats and fitted guards on the subs, as I prefer to have a boot where I can chuck stuff in without worrying about damaging audio equipment.

I have a similar setup in mine (nowhere as neat though), and I can still fit 2 sizeable gym bags in the boot without risk of bumping any equipment.

i have a mate who is an auto trimmer, he's going to make up some vinyl covers for the amps that i can slip over when i want to put something long in the boot. helps stop me scratching them

Guards I am on the hunt for, not easy to find for the Type X subs, not a worry if i went with the Type S or Type R's.

thanks for the comments, i'm pretty happy with how its all turned out.

I'm pretty sure that the Type X's use the same 12" grille that the Type R uses? I got mine from JB, about $30-35 a grille. Looks the goods too as it fits perfectly on the Alpine range.
