water damaged amp MY08

Postby xyz » Sat Feb 05, 2011 12:57 am

The recent downpour of rain in Melbourne from the tail of cyclone Anthony caused some flooding, and long story short I'm quite certain amp that sits underneath the passenger side seat is damaged :(

Suffice to say the audio does not work at all, and at times even when the McIntosh system is turned off, there are loud crackling sounds coming from the speakers.

Is there somewhere I can go to have this fixed (I've dug through some threads and maybe also deaden the doors too)? Maybe somewhere on the weekend!

Hope no one elses car was damaged. Don't park too close to the gutter like I did - my passenger decided to open the door completely which trapped the fastflowing rainwater right into the cabin :angry2:

Any advice would be appreciated.

If it is wateer damaged, your best bet is to have it replaced. Water damaged electronics if not dried immediately will corrode pretty quickly and become irrepairable. Sounds like a great opportunity to upgrade to something better...
