Hey Guys,

If I install a Eclipse AVN726EA unit in the car do I need to change my amp ?

Or is the McIntosh amp plug in and play with the new system ?

Cheers. :D

I think you "can" use the existing amp, but requires a little bit of work to get it working. I think there are a few threads re: this.

I opted for the Apline PDX-5.. same as Clarences as it fits nicely under the passenger seat and can accommodate my future needs

Hi Harry, the McIntoss amp takes a balanced input so without doing a fair bit of work which would give you little sonic benefit, I would suggest that you either just use the onboard amp of this headunit or go for the Alpine PDX or Kenwood KACX4D. I didn't find it was necessary to go the separate amp route when I had the Eclipse AVN4400 in my H6 Lib, I tapped straight into the wiring loom that was connected to the under seat amp so I didn't have to re-wire.

Enjoy your new HU.

I just got one installed, the guy at Alberts said the AVN726EA has one of the best onboard amps around. He couldn't wire the back sub up but the other speakers have all been bypassed and are running off the deck. He reckons just get a good 4 channel amp to wire up the sub and the front and run the back off the deck.
