Excellent post cvas; I am going to link to that in the superthread. You MY07/GT (not sure which) guys have it easy!! No handbrake/centre console removal.

Also I'm going to update the superthread with some recommendations, one of which will be not to buy this unit! (works great for me, but too many failures!)

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the helpful responses, and thanks for the phone Fluf, I'll give you a ring if i get stuck. Unfortunately I'm in Vic so won't be able to attend QLD drags anytime soon !

I've got the manual 3.0RB but I'll use your pics for guidance CVAS, will let everyone know how it goes, I'll have a crack at it after work tonight.

Hey all,

Just an update, I pulled everything out and plugged in the xcarlink...

didn't work ! how anti-climatic. I had the same problem as Fluf, the subaru logo just flashes repeatedly like the HU is rebooting constantly.

Thanks for the install pics and help guys, might look at the advanced ICE model now...many confirmed successes?

Good to add to teh knowledgebase.

In my MY06 3.0RB, I have the Axxess/ Clarion version and it's not bad, but i'd like the HU/ Steering-wheel skip function and better audio
mine randomly gets crackly/ with background noise.
But i do require it to charge teh iPod aswell, which my Axxess unit does

Check out the features of the advancedice and anycarlink models in the superthread, Rob. Neither have been installed by many members though so there's not enough owners to determine that they're definitely alright, like the xcarlink unit when I bought mine. Either the design changed or I got lucky.

Hi everyone,

Just another update. I got together with another vic member 'bigBADbenny', we tried this unit in his car (build 06 Liberty GT spec B wagon with satnav(facelift)) and came across the same problem. The subaru logo repeatedly flashed and would not boot up.

We suspect that it may be a faulty unit, so I'll be contacting Sydney Installers to organise a return on this. As a side note, the serial number from the unit I received is: C2011510287, so if another member happens to receive this particular model, be mindful.

I'll see what Harry says, if he's happy to send a new one out that fine with me, otherwise I'll be asking for a refund on this ASAP.

Great to meet you, Derek! Thanks for walking me through the HU removal too, I had no idea how easy it is.
Good luck with the return and give me a shout if you'd be willing to let me test the compatibility of the replacement with my MY07 GT B.

I never thought to take satnav compatibility into account. (though maybe it's not relevant)

derek do you have a satnav unit in your car?

Hey SegR,

My lib doesn't have the satnav option, just the standard mcintosh unit if that helps!

Ok, thanks. I'd recommend a refund as there haven't been many xcarlink success stories recently.
