They are on iPod/iPhone mode by default and automatically switch to the AUX port when it senses an audio signal.

It is quite common for vehicles to not pause the iPod when the car is turned off.
We recommend just switching to radio source before turning the vehicle off (which will pause the iPod), or manually pausing.

Ahh that explains it. Yeah I switched back to normal CD mode to pause the iPod today, seems to work fine :)

Also it seems to keep charging the iPod once the car is off... not sure if it eventually turns off but that may be a little concerning, wouldn't want to come back to a flat battery :?

It took exactly a week (including the weekend) you guys sent it Friday some time and it was at my door Friday the next week. (I'm in Brisbane BTW)

mine sometimes:

*gets stuck when i turn on my car...need to wait for ages or turn unit off/on a few times

*FF sometimes doesn't work, or only allows one FF action (only skips 10 secs or so into song, then no more)

*huggggee delays with some files, mainly large 15mb + files

*fairly slow track skipping (although this is livable)

Its really awesome not burning cd's anymore, but i would of thought it wouldn't be this laggy or unresponsive. audio quality is top so no complaints there.
Is there a possibly to update firmware or even mess around with those little switches at the bottom of the unit? I can live with these little problems, but
I would like to iron them out if others aren't having these problems or if its possible to fix!

It was while I was installing and testing, from what I remember when I changed to radio or cd it would go off but the iPod would still charge, I didn't think much of it at the time and its now hidden under the trim....

Is that the part number for the AUX jack that sits in the centre console? I emailed Subaru and asked for part number H6210AG000. He emailed back this reply:

"Hi Chris

I have one of those kits on stock. They have updated the part number for it, so it is now H6210AG010. the AUX cable is $123.50."

Anyway long story short, I purchased and installed it
Below are some photos if anyone cares... Sorry about the quality, they were taken with iphone.

First thing I did was remove the head unit and ash tray/ciggarette plug. had to unplug all the cables.Image

This a really dumb question to all the experts, but can someone give me step by step instructions (or a link to photos of it) to remove the head unit from a MY08 2.5i base model Liberty? Do you need any special tools?
Many thanks

i installed my anycar link this morning that i got from wavetech.

It was a little bit confusing installing it without any prior knowledge or guides to follow
and even more confusing when i couldnt figure out that you had to press disc twice to get the ipod to work.

My only concearne is that i cant get the aux jack to work, does anyone have any helpful hints?

Cheers fellas!

Hi,

New here, first post :)

My Liberty's McIntosh CD player is on the way out; skips all the time. I found a double din fascia from avojdm.com for about $360 shipped, however the anycarlink is a much cheaper option.

One question - how difficult is the install? I don't way to scratch the console or audio and climate control plastics, but if it's quite easy I'd like to give it a go myself.

Thanks

From what I was told by my installer its not difficult. He had the anycarlink unit installed within 45mins taking his time. If you have any doubt doing it yourself, go to an audio guy and pay him an hourly rate to fit it.

Hi,

You will need to press either the RPT, RDM or SCAN (depending on the radio) button on the radio to switch between the Anycar sources.

Hope this helps.

Hi All,

Took longer to get our hands on a MY08 radio than first thought, but we have finally done some tests.

We have confirmed the Anycar Link (at this time) is not compatible with MY08 McIntosh radio systems.
However, we have also confirmed that the Grom Audio unit is compatible with the MY08 McIntosh radio systems.

The Grom unit uses a different connector (rectangle connector pictured below)

as apposed to the Anycar (square connector pictured below)

Up to now, we thought only the Kenwood Subaru models used the larger rectangle connector.

It appears MY08 McIntosh radio's contain both connectors (Square & Rectangle styles)
We have also seen an older McIntosh radio (#PF-4062I) with both connectors (on this unit, both Anycar & Grom devices worked)

I therefore think it would be safe to assume that if your McIntosh/Kenwood radio has both connectors, or just the larger rectangle connector - the Grom unit should work.

In these models, they probably have made the smaller square connector to run optional nav systems or something like that, and therefore added the larger rectangle connector to run an optional CD changer (the Anycar & Grom units "simulate" a CD changer) and this is why the Grom unit works.

You can view the Grom Subaru unit here: http://www.anycarlink.co.nz/GROM-IPD3-SUB.html
At present, we only have an iPod/iPhone only unit. (with optional add-ons for Bluetooth & AUX-In)

Thank you,

Matt

Cheers, Simon

So i did some snooping around.
I've found that if i press RPT twice (slowly, enough time to give the head unit to think) that it switches over so I can use the AUX port
happy times were had when i figured this out!
I was on holidays down south and left my ipod at home in Sydney :(
